Toyota-Denso Automotive Compressor Georgia, Inc. (TACG), established in 2004, is a subsidiary of Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO). TICO is a leading global manufacturer of automobile parts and assemblies, material handling equipment, and provider of logistics solutions. TACG specializes in the manufacturing of automobile air conditioning compressors and is based in Pendergrass, Georgia.
Department PurposeThe purpose of production is to create goods and services through materials and resources. In manufacturing, the focus is on producing tangible products using raw materials, labor, equipment, and technology. At TACG, production is guided by the Toyota Production System (TPS), Lean Manufacturing methods, and continuous improvement (kaizen).
Position PurposeThe Assistant Team Leader (ATL) supports the Production Team Leader in effectively leading production associates. The ATL ensures that daily production operations are carried out safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards while applying TPS, 5S, JIT, and Lean Manufacturing practices.
ScheduleHours: Sunday – Thursday, 7:00 PM to End of Production (overtime required).
The die cast environment is similar to a "non-air-conditioned garage mechanic shop": hot in the summer, cool in the winter. Associates work near furnaces melting aluminum, requiring 100% cotton, long-sleeve clothing for protection.
12 machines and furnaces operate continuously, each with three robots.
Hearing protection is required and provided.
Exposure to graphite and hydraulic oil is common when changing hoses, dies, or cleaning machines.
Work is hands-on, industrial, and focused on safety, cleanliness, and preventive maintenance.
The Assistant Team Leader is expected to:
Coordinate resources to complete daily assignments while coaching associates.
Ensure quality targets are met through quality audits and proper documentation.
Monitor department production activities to meet schedules and customer expectations.
Apply TPS principles to improve efficiency and reduce cost.
Ensure associates follow standardized work, training, and documentation.
Support preventative maintenance programs, machine checks, and tool changes.
Promote continuous kaizen, 5S practices, and environmental compliance.
Provide training and mentorship for new associates and temporary workers.
Respond to line issues, faults, or downtime, and support containment procedures.
Audit paperwork (PA sheets, QC check sheets, condition checks, etc.) and verify compliance.
Maintain open communication with team leaders, associates, and support groups.
Monitor safety policies, PPE usage, and environmental impacts.
Investigate defects, support resolution efforts, and attend quality meetings.
Display Courtesy, Dignity, and Respect to all coworkers across shifts.
Assist with startup, audits, sorts, and other duties as assigned.
High School Diploma or GED preferred.
3–5 years of experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment required.
Proficiency in ERP systems, inventory control, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Ability to apply Lean Manufacturing, TPS, and JIT concepts.
Proficient in written and spoken English.
Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, team-oriented environment.
Strong mentoring, training, and leadership skills.
Frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and use hands.
Occasionally required to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
Must occasionally lift and/or move at least 50 pounds safely.
Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust focus.
Must maintain a constant state of alertness and work safely at all times.
