Salary Range: $185,000 – $225,000 (USD)
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a strategic and execution-oriented Director, Learning & Development to build and lead enterprise-wide learning programs that drive technical excellence, leadership capability, and workforce readiness within a fast-paced, advanced manufacturing environment.
This is a critical leadership role responsible for designing scalable learning strategies, implementing and governing a Learning Management System (LMS) and certification operating model, and fostering a culture of continuous learning aligned to operational excellence and growth.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Learning Leadership
- Develop and execute a comprehensive learning and development strategy aligned with business objectives and future workforce needs.
- Partner with senior leaders to assess skill gaps and design targeted learning roadmaps across engineering, manufacturing, and corporate functions.
- Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation, and performance excellence.
Learning Technology & Systems
- Lead the selection, implementation, and optimization of a Learning Management System (LMS) and certification tracking platform.
- Ensure learning systems support compliance, scalability, integration with HRIS, and a strong user experience.
- Establish governance, data integrity standards, reporting frameworks, and system ownership.
Certification & Compliance Programs
- Design and oversee certification programs supporting technical roles, safety, compliance, and leadership development.
- Track certification status, renewals, and progress across departments.
- Ensure alignment with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and internal quality protocols.
Program Design & Delivery
- Oversee the development and delivery of technical training, leadership development, onboarding, and compliance programs.
- Implement blended learning approaches including e-learning, instructor-led training, and on-the-job learning.
- Ensure training programs meet regulatory, safety, and quality standards relevant to advanced manufacturing environments.
Team & Vendor Leadership
- Lead and develop a team of instructional designers, trainers, and program managers.
- Manage external vendors and learning partners to deliver high-quality content and solutions.
- Build internal capability through train-the-trainer models and peer learning networks.
Measurement & Continuous Improvement
- Define metrics and dashboards to measure learning effectiveness, capability uplift, and ROI.
- Continuously refine programs based on feedback, performance outcomes, and evolving business needs.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Engineering, or related field (Master's preferred).
- 10+ years of experience in learning and development, including 5+ years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience operating in high-tech, advanced manufacturing, or highly regulated environments.
- Proven success leading LMS and certification system selection and implementation at scale.
- Strong grounding in adult learning theory, instructional design, and performance consulting.
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior leaders and translate business strategy into learning solutions.
- Experience building and leading high-performing teams.
Preferred Experience
- Exposure to semiconductor, electronics, or complex manufacturing environments.
- Experience with LMS platforms such as SuccessFactors, Cornerstone, or Workday Learning.
- Professional certifications in learning, coaching, or instructional design (e.g., ATD, CPLP, CPTD).
