As a Dental Assistant, you will be instrumental in providing top-quality service while gaining valuable experience in general dentistry, pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and more.
Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up dental tools, and ensuring all equipment is functioning properly using aseptic techniques.
- Assist dentists during procedures such as restorations, extractions, endodontic treatments, prosthodontics, and pediatric dentistry by providing chairside support.
- Take and develop dental X-rays and medical imaging using advanced equipment like 3D scanners to aid diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Manage patient records efficiently within electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft, Dentrix, or Epic while ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations for patient confidentiality.
- Monitor vital signs and assess patient comfort throughout treatments to promote safety and well-being.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, post-treatment care, and explain procedures using accurate dental terminology.
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments as a dental receptionist, verifying insurance information, and maintaining organized medical documentation and records.
Qualifications
- Proven experience working in a dental clinic environment with familiarity in general dentistry procedures.
- Strong knowledge of dental assisting techniques including chairside assisting, infection control protocols, and aseptic technique.
- Proficiency with EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; experience with Epic or similar platforms is a plus.
- Ability to accurately interpret dental terminology, medical terminology, and anatomy relevant to dental care.
- Certification in X-ray technology for intraoral and extraoral imaging; additional certifications in pediatric dentistry or endodontics are advantageous.
- Knowledge of infection control standards and procedures specific to dental clinics to ensure patient safety.
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with team members including dental receptionists and hygienists.
