Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Instructional Assistant to support classroom teachers and enhance student learning experiences. This role is vital in fostering a positive educational environment, particularly for students with diverse needs, including those with disabilities. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in early childhood education, childhood development, and classroom management, with a passion for working with children and supporting their academic and social growth. Experience in special education, literacy, math, and behavior management is highly valued. Duties
- Assist classroom teachers in implementing lesson plans across subjects such as literacy, math, and early childhood education
- Support students with disabilities, including those with autism, by providing tailored instructional assistance and behavioral support
- Help manage classroom activities to ensure a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment
- Provide one-on-one tutoring or mentoring to students needing additional academic support
- Support students' social-emotional development through positive behavior management techniques
- Assist with classroom organization, proofreading educational materials, and preparing instructional resources
- Foster effective communication with students, teachers, and parents to promote student success
- Support children's development through age-appropriate activities aligned with Montessori or other specialized educational philosophies when applicable
- Maintain documentation of student progress and assist in assessments as needed
Skills
- Strong understanding of special education principles and childhood development
- Experience working with children of various ages, including early childhood education settings
- Proficiency in literacy education, math instruction, and classroom management strategies
- Ability to work effectively with students with disabilities and those on the autism spectrum
- Excellent communication skills for collaborating with teachers, parents, and students
- Experience in tutoring, mentoring, or providing behavioral support in educational environments
- Knowledge of behavior management techniques to promote positive classroom behavior
- Familiarity with Montessori or private school teaching methods is a plus
- Ability to adapt instructional approaches to meet diverse student needs and learning styles
- Compassionate attitude with strong organizational skills and patience for working with children

Pay: $ $35.00 per hour
