The position delivers products to customers on behalf of the organization by the safe and efficient operation of the company's trucking fleet. The role also works in a warehouse environment where they verify and keep records on incoming and outgoing shipments and prepares items for shipment.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Delivery Driving Responsibilities (occasional overnight deliveries)
Responsible for safely and efficiently loading and delivering materials and products at the direction of the Logistics Manager or other responsible company official.
Operates company vehicles and other equipment in a safe manner, and adheres to all traffic, state, and federal laws.
Responsible for loading or unloading freight in a safe, timely, and efficient manner.
Maintains a proper record of logbook time and other information as required by the Department of Transportation (DOT) or other state or federal agency.
Keep accurate delivery records. Whether loading or unloading, it is the driver's responsibility to keep accurate counts and records. Related paperwork must be completed, with exceptions to quantities, damaged freight, and other details noted.
Maintain company equipment. Maintenance: Perform basic maintenance on trucks and related equipment. Make note of any suspected defects or problems with equipment and make arrangements for repairs at an appropriate facility when necessary. Cleanliness: Keep all vehicles clean, both inside and out. The inside of the vehicle should be kept clean and orderly, with paper and trash emptied daily. Delivery drivers are also required to wash the exterior of their truck when necessary.
Obtain any and all required medical permits and keep all permits current and up to date. This includes but is not limited to drug and alcohol testing as required by the DOT. Random testing will be conducted.
Always maintain communication with the company. The company must be able to communicate with our drivers when they are on the road, and drivers are required to report in, and share information with the home office regularly. Any deviations from the delivery schedule, or issues of any kind at a delivery point should be discussed with the Logistics Manager or other company representatives. May be required to communicate with other parties, customers or supplier regarding deliveries.
Maintains a professional impression as a representative of the company, while operating company vehicles (many identified with the company logo).
Responsible to have a good working knowledge of part numbers and part usage and understand applications for use.
Compares identifying information and counts, weighs, or measures items of incoming and outgoing shipments to verify information against bills of lading, invoices, orders, or other records.
Prepares and expedites shipments.
Operates lift truck or hand trucks to convey, move or hoist materials to proper departments or areas in a safe and productive way.
Operates the stretch wrap banders in both departments.
Assists with snow removal.
Helps maintain proper inventory levels.

Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, one (1) year relevant experience, or any equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to do the job.
Appropriate Commercial Drivers license and all necessary endorsements
Thorough knowledge of traffic laws and defensive driving.
Ability to work independently and establish and maintain effective relationships with customers, team members, leaders and the general public.
Ability to make independent judgments which have moderate impacts on the organization.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Demonstrated ability to communicate orally or in written form effectively with co-workers, departments, preferably customers and vendors as well.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage.
Must be able to become certified and maintain certification through an OSHA approved forklift and crane operation certification.
