Physician Assistant - Sports Med/ Orthopedic SurgeryWe are seeking a Physician Assistant in assist with our orthopedic surgeon. This is a full-time, day shift position; Monday through Friday, with 3 days in clinic and 2 days in the OR. Experienced Orthopedic PA or similar surgery background strongly preferred.

Major Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as first assist in the operating room to support increased surgical volume and efficiency.

  • Assess and manage acute orthopedic injuries, optimize patients for surgery when indicated, and coordinate surgical scheduling.

  • Provide conservative management for patients until surgical intervention is necessary, including performing outpatient procedures such as joint injections/aspirations and wound management, etc.

  • Facilitate referrals to rehabilitation services, imaging, and other consultative services as needed throughout the pre- and post-operative continuum of care.

  • Participates in patient care delivery either directly or indirectly.

  • Performs and documents initial and ongoing complete (medical, mental, physical, and psychosocial) history and physical examinations, assess health status, diagnose any potential issues for patients.

  • Orders, collects, and/or reviews patient data using appropriate assessment techniques, relevant supporting diagnostic information (e.g. laboratory, radiological), and procedures where indicated for adults and children.

  • Assesses for risks associated with the care of acute and complex/chronically ill patients including but not limited to medication side effects, immobility, impaired nutrition, fluid and electrolyte imbalance, immune-competence, invasive interventions and diagnostic procedures.

  • Assesses for medical and health risks and needs, preventive screening and/or immunizations based on patient's age and history.

  • Provides general and preventive care, conduct checkups, treat illnesses and work with physician as well as other healthcare professionals to provide high quality care.

​Minimum Requirements:

Education:

  • Applicant must hold a Master's Degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program (MPAS, MHS, or MMS).

​Certification/Licensure:

  • Applicant must have and maintain a PA certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician's Assistants (NCCPA).

  • Current licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant in the State of Ohio.

  • Current Ohio licensure and ACLS certification is required.

  • Certificate to Prescribe must be current and maintained at all times.

  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR (BLS) certification required.

Experience:

A minimum of three years of related experience as a PA.
