We're looking for a Quality Engineer to join our team and support our continuous improvement initiatives and supplier quality processes.
Position Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that products and processes meet established quality standards and customer requirements. This role will drive root cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and collaborate cross-functionally to improve product quality. A key focus of this role will be managing supplier quality, including audits, corrective actions, and ongoing supplier development.
Key Responsibilities
- Advocate high quality standards for product, processes, and governance methods.
- Interpret and apply ISO 9001 and AS9100 guidelines to internal and external processes, requirements, output.
- Develop and execute inspection plans, control plans, and quality documentation.
- Maintain Document Control functions and duties.
- Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective/ preventive actions (RCCA/ CAPA).
- Generate First Article Inspections (FAI) reports per AS9102 standards.
- Support and participate in internal and external audits, including regulatory, customer and third-party audits.
- Perform supplier quality audits and assessments; develop and monitor supplier corrective actions.
- Maintain supplier scorecards and lead performance improvement initiatives with key vendors.
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to resolve quality issues.
- Analyze quality data, identify trends, and recommend process improvements.
- Ensure calibration and maintenance of inspection and test equipment.
- Maintain Training Matrix to monitor adherence to documented practices.
- Establish culture of quality by introducing concepts of FMEA, DOE, SPC, Value-Stream Mapping, Lean Principles, etc.
- Other responsibilities may be added/ modified, depending on the needs and circumstances of the employer and/ or the role.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering or a related, STEM field.
- 3–7 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment, preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 quality systems.
- Experience with supplier quality management, including audits and performance monitoring.
- Familiarity with GD&T, inspection tools, and metrology equipment.
- Working knowledge of FMEAs, control plans, and PPAP/APQP preferred.
- Proficiency in using quality tools such as 8D, 5 Why, Pareto Analysis, etc.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Credentials such as CQE (Certified Quality Engineer) or CQA (Certified Quality Auditor) is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in manufacturing/chemical processing environments.
- Ability to wear required PPE, and occasionally work at heights or in confined spaces.
Due to ITAR regulations, this position requires that the
employee must be a U.S. Person (U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident).
