Job Summary

The International Program Coordinator, under the guidance and supervision of the Talent Acquisition Manager, is responsible for establishing relationships with internationally educated staff prior to their arrival in the United States and supporting them throughout their journey at Shannon. This position will assist international staff with transitioning to life in the U.S. and serve as a resource for all social aspects of that transition.

The International Program Coordinator will also serve as the primary point of contact for international agency staff currently working at Shannon and will be responsible for developing and implementing strategies to encourage their retention. For individuals working at Shannon through an agency relationship, this role will actively recruit them into permanent core staff positions upon completion of their agency contracts. The role requires proactive engagement, relationship-building, and close coordination with both Human Resources and Nursing Leadership to ensure a seamless transition from agency to Shannon employment. While the primary focus remains on internationally educated staff, the coordinator may also assist with domestic recruitment initiatives as needed.

  • Build relationships with internationally educated staff throughout the Shannon system to help acclimate them to the Shannon culture and life in the United States.
  • Serve as the initial point of contact for the internationally educated staff, after offer acceptance, to help create connection with Shannon and the San Angelo communities; maintain regular contact with staff through arrival, onboarding, orientation, and the employment lifecycle at Shannon.
  • Assists the Human Resources Talent Acquisition Team and Recruiters with contacting International/Long Term Travelers (nursing and allied health) six months before end of contract in effort to convert them to permanent employees.
  • Plans and coordinates social events to build connection and camaraderie among the internationally educated staff.
  • Coordinates and plans celebration events to highlight our diversity and celebrate various cultures and traditions.
  • Establishes contacts and relationships with local businesses and individuals who can be a presence for the employee and family.
  • Analyzes data for recruitment and retention. Ensures timely and accurate reporting of all international and general recruitment and retention activities.
  • Collects and synthesizes data related to the educational and support needs of internationally educated staff; identifies trends and anticipates future needs.
  • Collaborates with educators, nursing leadership, and preceptors to support onboarding and professional development of internationally educated staff and nurse residents, as needed.
  • Coordinates and provides Team Member support if needed in other ways.

Qualifications

Education

    • High School Diploma: Required
  • Bachelor's degree in business or related field: Preferred

Experience

    • Two or more years of healthcare experience: Required
  • Two or more years of recruitment experience: Required

Certification/Licensure

    • Valid Texas Driver's License: Required
  • Society for Human Resources Management – Certified Professional (SHRM–CP): Preferred
