Job Title: Fabrication Supervisor (Hands-On)
Job Summary
The Corrugated Metal Hose Fabrication Supervisor is a working, hands-on leader responsible for overseeing fabricating, welding, assembling, and inspecting corrugated metal hose assemblies while supervising daily shop operations. This role spends the majority of time on the shop floor setting up jobs, troubleshooting equipment, verifying dimensions, and ensuring hose assemblies meet drawing, quality, and customer requirements. Tig Welding experience is not required but is preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Actively participate in daily fabrication of corrugated metal hose assemblies, including:
- TIG and/or orbital welding of hose and end fittings
- Assembly, trimming, testing, and finishing
- Set up jobs, verify travelers, and ensure correct materials and components are used
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
- Measure and verify hose length, diameter, braid coverage, and fit-up using:
- Tape measures
- Calipers (digital and dial)
- Go/No-Go gauges and other inspection tools
- Inspect welds, corrugations, and braid for workmanship and compliance
- Troubleshoot fabrication issues related to fit-up, welding, forming, or braiding
- Lead by example on quality, safety, and workmanship expectations
- Assign daily work and assist employees directly as needed to meet schedules
- Train operators and welders on proper fabrication and inspection techniques
- Work directly with Quality on in-process inspections, pressure testing, and leak testing
- Maintain equipment readiness; perform minor adjustments and coordinate repairs
- Monitor scrap and rework and implement immediate corrective actions
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area (5S)
- Act as Plant Manager during his/her absence
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience in fabrication
- Proficiency with measuring and inspection tools, including:
- Tape measures
- Calipers
- Basic inspection gauges
- Working knowledge of TIG welding processes is a plus
- Ability to read blueprints, tolerances, and specifications
- Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving ability
- Ability to train and lead employees on the shop floor
- Basic computer skills
Preferred Experience and Certifications
- 3–5 years of fabrication experience a plus
- Prior lead or working-supervisor experience preferred
- AWS welding certification a plus
- Familiarity with ISO 9001
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and work on the shop floor for extended periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Exposure to noise, heat, welding light, and metal dust
Work Environment
- Manufacturing / fabrication shop
- Primarily shop-floor based role
- Overtime may be required based on workload
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $ $30.00 per hour
