SUMMARY
A Senior Logistics Engineer develops and checks logistics support information (LSI) packages, allowance parts lists (APL), and allowance equipment lists (AEL) in accordance with a variety of requirements, standards, procedures, and documentation. Collaboration with internal and external stakeholders is required to ensure alignment, accuracy, and compliance of NASSCO's submittals to the Government. The person in this role is expected to assist Supervisor with mentoring and training Logistic Engineer I, II, III ensuring quality assurance. RESPONSIBILITIES When assigned, functions as primary project lead for logistics work scope under Government contracts Assists Supervisor in implementation and execution of management plans Oversees assigned personnel to ensure adherence to plan Develops ILS schedules to meet contract requirements Directs the assignment of tasks as necessary to support adherence to established milestone schedules Develops and executes equipment validation plans in accordance with contractual milestones through ship delivery Plans, prioritizes, organizes, and monitors project tasks Teaches others how to read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, schematics, 3D models, and related documents Develops logistics support information (LSI) from available engineering data in accordance with applicable contract requirements, commercial standards, and established procedures Performs quality assurance reviews of LSI packages for content and format to ensure compliance with contract/purchase order requirements. Edits for proper content and format and coach individual to improve quality Tracks, coordinates, integrates, and manages a disciplined cross-functional vendor-furnished information (VFI) technical review process, including preparing detailed responses to customer comments Provides direction to the ILS personnel in the research and development of supplier data review documentation and comment letters Develops contractually compliant allowance parts lists (APL) and allowance equipment lists (AEL) from VFI and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) documentation Validates provisioned or repairable parts are installed onboard Assists with label plate and Item Unique Identification (IUID) creation and inspection both in the warehouse and onboard Trains new Provisioners and Logistics Engineers in data research, development, and preparation Reviews Quality Assurance practices and implements technical changes that include customer feedback Manages quality reviews on all products created in the department before they are submitted to the customer Represents the ILS Department at logistics meetings Functions as interface with customer in resolving logistics issues Manages cross-functional teams of Engineers and Supply Chain Professionals to resolve internal issues Provides timely status updates to Management regarding logistics issues Collaborates with various subject-matter experts to prepare technical documentation Collaborates internally with ILS Technical Writing team to ensure alignment between technical manuals and LSI packages prior to formal submittal through the Material and Equipment Real-time Logistics Information Network (MERLIN) Monitors transmittal of customer comments and pushes for expedient resolution Actively contributes to the department's culture with a consistently positive attitude Works effectively in a group and cultivates a vibrant team environment with a focus on negotiation and consensus-building across diverse internal and external stakeholders Completes all tasks within quality, budget, and schedule constraints Completes all activities with first time quality Sets an example of professionalism and broad technical competence Answerable to the department for the achievement of individual results Other responsibilities and duties as assigned QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in an engineering or logistics-related field preferred; fourteen (14) years of experience as a Logistics Engineer can substitute degree requirements Twelve (12) years of experience in the maritime industry or Navy Logistics Excellent English language skills, both oral and written Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite of software Proven experience assembling and teaching others how to assemble LSI packages and enter information into MERLIN database Effective communication skills that establish strong relationships with customers and their representatives with the goal of resolving complex, and often unforeseen, issues in the best interests of the program Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and translate them into clear, easy-to-understand content Willingness to dive into complex technical issues and work with internal and external stakeholder to resolve in accordance with contract requirements
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The essential functions of this role require work in both an office and industrial setting. The role requires prolonged periods of working in a stationary position, operating a computer, computer programs, and standard office equipment necessary to perform the essential duties. The role requires perceiving information and communicating effectively with others in person, online, and on the phone. The role also requires prolonged periods of working in indoor and outdoor industrial settings. Must have the ability to safely access, navigate, and traverse the shipyard, construction areas, production areas, ships, and warehouses. Must be able to transit uneven surfaces, and be agile to move quickly to avoid hazards and respond to unexpected obstacles. Must be able to observe, detect, identify, perceive, recognize, and process information to remain alert and timely comply with all safety requirements. Must be able to move, transport, and use equipment necessary to perform the essential duties. Duties performed on ships require ascending and descending stairs and ladders, transiting on scaffolding and at heights, transiting through manholes and other narrow, confined, or congested spaces. This position requires exposure to industrial areas which contain hazardous materials, loud noise (including sirens, horns, chipping, slamming, and hammering), dust, fumes, and exposure to weather.

$110,800 - $143,300
