Position Overview
SUMMARY (Basic Purpose of the Job)
Provides safe and timely transportation of PACE participants, including transport meals, durable medical equipment, pharmacy, and any other transportation as deemed necessary. Assures overall cleanliness, safety of the vehicle assigned on a daily basis, and communicating any safety issues to the Transportation Manager.
Essential Functions
- Creates and maintains an atmosphere of warmth to ensure a calm environment throughout the office. Performs all assigned tasks in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as instructed by supervisors. Follows work assignments and work schedules in completing and performing assigned tasks.
- Executes assignments in a culture that is shared and collaborative across all divisions within Capital Health PACE. Promotes and maintains collaborative relationships with managers, peers, and customers by effectively fostering a team environment, building consensus and resolving conflicts.
- Attends and participates in scheduled training, in-service training, mandatory annual in-service training, and educational classes as required and needed.
- Assures safety for the PACE passengers during transport and provides care in a manner which ensures participant satisfaction. Operates equipment safely and in compliance with the vehicle licensing regulations.
- Follows assigned schedule and makes adjustments to meet unanticipated changes while considering the needs of the participants and requirements of the PACE center. Communicates all necessary details and changes to the Transportation Manager.
- Transports participants to and from medical or specialist appointments and activity outings as requested by the interdisciplinary team via the plan of care. Transports meals, durable medical equipment, pharmaceuticals, and any other items as deemed necessary for the participants.
- Provides physical assistance to each participant when needed when boarding and debarking from the vehicles. Handles potential infectious fluids with appropriate biohazard precautions and practices universal precautions.
- Maintains the vehicle in a neat and clean condition. Ensures vehicle equipment is maintained and operating within the manufacturer's recommendations. Replaces supplies as needed.
- Performs other duties as needed.
Minimum Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED. Associate's degree preferred. CDL License with passenger endorsement required.
- Experience: One year of experience working in healthcare or home health preferred.
- Knowledge and Skills: Has well-developed communication skills, both written and oral, that may be used either in an on-site or virtual environment is required. Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.
- Special Training: Basic knowledge and experience with electronic mail and calendaring system preferred. Knowledge of transportation software systems as necessary.
- Mental, Behavioral and Emotional Abilities: Possesses a high degree of personal accountability, responsibility, and independent decision making abilities with the skills to interpret programs, goals, objectives, policies and procedures of the organization in line with mission, vision, and philosophy of Capital Health PACE.
