Our New York City, New York facility is looking for a certified and experienced Forklift Operator to join our logistics team. In this demanding role, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of forklifts to move, stack, and retrieve materials within a busy urban warehouse environment. Your expertise in handling equipment, managing inbound/outbound goods, and maintaining accurate inventory movements is vital. This position requires a high level of attention to detail, strong adherence to safety procedures, and the ability to navigate a fast-paced operation. We prioritize safety and expect all employees to rigorously follow all safety guidelines, including the mandatory use of PPE.
Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts (e.g., reach trucks, order pickers, electric pallet jacks) safely and efficiently.
- Load and unload materials from delivery vehicles and internal staging areas.
- Transport goods accurately to and from designated storage locations.
- Conduct daily pre-shift inspections of forklifts and report any maintenance needs.
- Assist with order picking, packing, and preparing shipments.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, ensuring proper placement and location.
- Follow all company safety policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Work collaboratively with other warehouse staff to achieve operational targets.
- Identify and report any unsafe conditions or hazards immediately.
- Contribute to maintaining a clean, orderly, and secure warehouse environment.
Qualifications:
Valid forklift certification and extensive operating experience. Minimum of 3 years of forklift operation experience in a warehouse or logistics context. Demonstrated ability to operate multiple types of forklifts safely and effectively. Thorough knowledge of warehouse safety protocols and best practices. Must be capable of performing physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, and standing/walking for extended periods. Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial reasoning. Strict adherence to safety guidelines and use of PPE is mandatory. Effective communication and teamwork skills. High school diploma or equivalent is required.
