We are seeking a dependable and physically fit Material Handler to join our bustling warehouse operations in Virginia Beach, Virginia. As a Material Handler, you will be responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials throughout our facility. This includes receiving, storing, and distributing raw materials and finished goods. Your role is critical to maintaining the smooth flow of our logistics chain and ensuring that production and shipping departments have the materials they need when they need them. We emphasize a culture of safety, requiring all employees to utilize appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and follow strict handling procedures.
Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials and equipment.
- Store materials in designated locations, ensuring proper organization and accessibility.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and proficiently.
- Transport materials to and from various departments within the facility.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counts and stocktaking.
- Prepare materials for shipment or further processing.
- Adhere to all safety regulations and protocols, including safe lifting practices and the proper use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area, free from hazards.
- Identify and report any damaged materials or safety concerns to supervisors.
- Support the logistics team with various material handling tasks as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift certification is a significant advantage.
- Ability to operate various types of material handling equipment.
- Strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures and protocols.
- Physical ability to perform demanding tasks, including frequent lifting of up to 50 pounds.
- Excellent stamina and manual dexterity.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong work ethic.
- Team-oriented with good communication skills.
