An Overview of Your Future Role at BBABBA wants to bolster its local team to pursue project and client development in the Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean region. This team works closely with our Québec City, Montréal and Mont-Saint-Hilaire offices and is actively involved in the region's development. BBA's teams stand out with local clients by combining cutting‑edge technical expertise with an unrivalled commitment and strong understanding of the challenges involved in operating and maintaining hydroelectric power plants.
You’ll join our team of about 20 turbine‑generator experts, working on hydroelectric projects across Canada. You’ll work at our Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean office, located in Jonquière, and play a key role in all phases of engineering projects, ensuring exceptional technical quality of deliverables. You’ll also visit sites occasionally and identify and develop new business opportunities as they arise. Finally, you’ll serve as a mentor to support the growth of our Hydropower team.
With Us, You’ll Get the Opportunity To…- Manage and carry out various mechanical projects for turbines, generators, mechanical speed governors, bearing lubrication and cooling systems, balancing and alignment of rotating parts, hydromechanical valves and balance of plant for both rehabilitation projects and new hydroelectric or pumped‑storage power plants
- Play a leading role in client communications for your mandates
- Be a key team member in delivering small to major modernization projects or new installations
- Solve complex problems related to mechanical components in hydroelectric power plants
- Identify, plan and organize client needs to assess the condition of their units and conduct power upgrade studies (turbines and generators)
- Lead onsite inspections, diagnostics, commissioning and testing
- Represent your area of expertise and help promote it to potential clients and specialized groups in the hydropower sector
- Mentor and coach junior and intermediate engineers by actively sharing your knowledge and encouraging skill development within the team

- Efficient, both on site and at the office
- University degree in mechanical engineering
- From 15 to 25 years of relevant experience in the hydropower sector
- Relevant experience with inspections, condition assessments, installation, commissioning and testing
- Must be a registered P.Eng. with the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ) or another Canadian province
- Driver’s licence
