We are seeking an Electrical Engineer with proven Project Engineering experience that can immediately deploy their skills to support the management of our WHP project opportunities. This opportunity aims to evolve into a Senior Project Engineer position supporting multiple projects.

Reporting to the Director of Projects, the Project Engineer will execute Waste Heat to Power (WHP) and other decarbonization projects for Kanin.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible to drive execution of project development through project scope definition, FEED, detailed engineering, construction, and commissioning
  • Plan, coordinate, track, & manage all project activities
  • Run internal and external project meetings
  • Support the Project Manager’s accountability to professionally own primary contact with client partners, project financiers, vendors/suppliers, EP/EPC execution partners, service providers, etc.
  • Manage external resources including any of engineering firms, EPCs, specialist contractors, logistics/transportation specialists, construction contractors, etc.
  • Develop and manage key project documentation including action tracker, project charter, cost estimate, spend profile, schedules, interconnection applications, vendor RFQs, third-party engineering services, grant applications, procurement deliverables, construction deliverables, commissioning plans, etc.
  • Prepare and present weekly reports on project status to client partners
Ideal Candidate:
  • 8+ years of relevant project management experience
  • Electrical engineer (Canadian or American Professional Engineer or P.Eng.)
  • Experience coordinating projects, coordinating project teams, managing multiple stakeholders, and driving project success
  • Experienced and knowledgeable with electrical interconnection & electrical system studies
  • Experienced and knowledgeable with gas turbine power or compression projects
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or related Master’s Degree
  • Strong technical background and familiarity with project document review, engineering document control processes, project approval processes, etc.
  • Self-driven person with strong analytic & problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrates extreme ownership of their work and projects
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and stakeholders
  • Capability and ability for travel to project and partner sites across USA (primarily) and Canada
Additional Assets/Differentiators:

Any of the following could be considered an asset:

  • Experienced and knowledgeable with distributed electrical generation projects
  • Field or on-site experience (field Project Engineer, Operations Engineer, etc.)
  • Experience directly managing or coordinating discipline engineering resources
  • Experience directly managing or coordinating construction contractor resources
  • Experience directly managing or coordinating equipment suppliers/vendors
  • Experience directly drafting or negotiating contracts for any of engineering services, major equipment procurement, construction contractor services, EPC or design-build services, etc.
  • Electrical utility experience
