GeoSpectrum is growing and we are seeking a System Safety Engineer to join our team!
The System Safety Engineer will play a key role in leading, managing, and facilitating system safety activities ensuring that risks are systematically identified and managed throughout the design of complex products during programmatic milestones, product developments and product deliveries. The role requires strong analytical thinking, an ability to lead and mentor cross‑functional teams, and to be a strong communicator in both technical and non‑technical capacities.

Responsibilities- Act as the Program Safety Manager on Program Engineering Teams.
- Lead the System Safety Working Group through PHA, FHA, SSHA and all associated activities.
- Utilize recognized hazard analysis techniques (e.g., What-If, Fault Tree Analysis, Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) to support the creation of robust safety documentation.
- Author internal and customer‑facing system safety deliverables.
- Be present as a safety authority through internal and external program milestones (SRR, PDR, CDR, FAT, etc.).
- Support with the identification and generation of product safety requirements.
- Act as a mentor/safety lead for Custom Solutions Teams.
- Provide Technical Program Management with advice and methods for capturing safety in the design of custom‑designed solutions.
- Serve as safety technical lead during internal program milestones (PDR, CDR, FAT, etc.).
- Develop, mature, and maintain the GTI System Safety Program.
- Become familiar with MIL‑STD‑882E and the requirements from the standard that should drive our approach to System Safety.
- Update current GTI program procedures to reflect the requirements of MIL‑STD‑882E and apply updates in the management of the safety progress on new programs.
- Stay up to date on developments with MIL‑STD‑882 and any other industry safety standards that may impact or improve the work conducted within a program.
- Identify and propose to management additional resources (both personnel and tooling) to support the execution of the safety program.
- Post‑secondary education in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Chemical, or related field) or equivalent career experience.
- Knowledge and hands‑on experience within hazard analysis, risk assessment, and safety management frameworks.
- Experience working with safety standards that define approaches for risk management of processes.
- Experience with MIL‑STD‑882 would be considered an asset.
All candidates must be eligible to apply for and maintain Canadian Controlled Goods and Canadian Government Security Clearances.
