Responsibilities

  • Project Oversight

    • Responsible for all aspects of the project.

    • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of contract documents.

    • Ensure compliance with Buttcon’s Policy & Procedures Manual.



  • Relationship Management

    • Establish and maintain excellent relationships with owners, architects, consultants, trades, and the public.

    • Promote Buttcon’s services and ensure client satisfaction.

    • Act as liaison between all project team members, both internal and external.



  • Safety and Compliance

    • Ensure compliance with Buttcon’s Health and Safety Program.

    • Provide key leadership, set examples, and ensure safety minutes are provided.

    • Ensure permits, insurance, and bonding are in place.



  • Team Leadership

    • Supervise, mentor, coach, and train project personnel.

    • Conduct regular site reviews and meetings; prepare and distribute minutes.



  • Financial Management

    • Develop and manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure cost control measures.

    • Prepare cash‑flow and update as required.

    • Prepare monthly progress billings and monitor receipt of payment certificates.

    • Review and authorize sub‑trade and material payments and ensure accurate cost coding.

    • Ensure sub‑trade/supplier accounts are reconciled.



  • Planning and Scheduling

    • Prepare the baseline schedule; maintain and update it throughout the project.

    • Track delays and apply for Extensions of Time and additional costs.

    • Ensure letters of delay are issued when required.



  • Tendering and Contract Management

    • Assist in tendering and award of trade contracts.

    • Ensure material and subcontractor tenders are issued timely.

    • Manage the Change Order process.

    • Manage cash allowances.

    • Manage and resolve contractual and technical issues with consultants and trades.



  • Documentation and Reporting

    • Prepare and present monthly Project Cost Reports.

    • Prepare and distribute monthly project status reports to clients.

    • Ensure the submittal process is implemented and executed per timelines.

    • Prepare submittal and RFI logs.



  • Communication and Correspondence

    • Handle day‑to‑day correspondence and ensure timely delivery to the job site.

    • Convene pre‑construction meetings and prepare and distribute minutes.



  • Project Completion

    • Apply for substantial performance and total completion.

    • Ensure deficiencies are dealt with in a timely manner.

    • Ensure all final monies are received at project end.



  • Business Development

    • Assist in securing new work by participating in estimates, proposals, and presentations as requested.




Qualification Requirements

  • Engineering degree (civil/construction/architectural) or technical college diploma in Construction Management or equivalent.

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in the ICI construction industry.

  • Thorough knowledge of construction, estimating, budgeting, scheduling, cost control, contract administration, technology, equipment, and general industry practices.

  • Strong understanding and adherence to safety standards.

  • Gold Seal Certified (asset).

  • LEED Accredited (asset).

  • Net Zero, WELL and Passive House (asset).

  • Computer literate, including proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Microsoft Project.

  • Suretrak, Primavera P3 or P6 (asset).

  • Axis Accounting Software (asset).

  • Procore and BIM software knowledge (asset).

  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills.

  • Proficiency in project management software and tools.

  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical drawings and specifications.

  • Familiarity with relevant building codes, regulations and safety standards.

  • Problem‑solving skills and ability to make informed decisions under pressure.
