As the Staff Software Engineer for a group of engineers located in Canada and Brazil, you will work closely with the Country Directors, Product managers, UX Designer, Customer Support, and cross-functional teams to tailor the Coinbase app for customers in the region.

You will have the opportunity to truly understand our customers and elevate their experience by customizing every aspect of Coinbase based on regional needs and preferences. Through deep insights into the Canadian and LATAM cryptocurrency landscape, you will play a key role in shaping Coinbase's strategy in these countries.

With your technical expertise and passion for building quality products that customers love, you will build, drive, and grow teams to create innovative features that delight customers and fuel further adoption in AMER. This is an exciting opportunity to lead Coinbase's efforts and establish it as the most trusted and easy-to-use cryptocurrency platform internationally.

What you’ll be doing:

• Lead and grow a team of 7-8 engineers to deliver features specific to the AMER markets.
• Manage individual projects, priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with your technical expertise.
• Mentor and train other team members on design techniques and coding standards.
• Deep dive into Coinbase systems to provide solutions on launching new features.
• Define and execute on a roadmap based on opportunities raised by your team and stakeholders.
• Use Coinbase and competitors' apps to identify gaps in the current experience for your market.
• Work closely with Country managers, Product managers, UX designers, Customer support, and senior leadership to identify feature opportunities.
• Raise customer experience problems/gaps and drive solutions.
• Oversee the design of scalable, reliable, and reusable solutions that benefit other teams.
• Show bias for action and make data-driven decisions to experiment with new solutions quickly.
• Add positive energy in meetings and foster an inclusive environment.

What we look for in you:

• At least 8+ years of experience in software engineering.
• Strong understanding of high-quality code and effective software engineering processes.
• An execution-focused mindset, capable of navigating ambiguity and delivering results.
• Ability to balance long-term strategic thinking with short-term planning.
• Experience in creating, delivering, and operating multi-tenant, distributed systems at scale.
• Proven track record of delivering full-stack projects.
• Willingness to manage engineers and transition into a managerial role.

Nice to haves:

• Active use or development of crypto products.
• Fluency in languages relevant to Coinbase's key markets in the Americas: Spanish, Portuguese, or French (English fluency is required).
• Crypto-forward experience, including familiarity with on-chain activities like Ethereum addresses, ENS, dApps, and blockchain services.

Pay Transparency Notice: The target annual salary for this position is CAD 211,500. Full-time offers include target bonus, target equity, and benefits (medical, dental, vision).
