WSP is currently seeking an Intermediate Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings Mechanical & Electrical team, located at our Thornhill office. A day in the life

The Intermediate Electrical Engineer will be responsible for leading the engineering design of electrical systems for both new construction and retrofit projects. The role includes but is not limited to:

  • Perform site surveys/visits.
  • Prepare electrical design briefs, perform power and lighting calculations, cable sizing, voltage drop calculations, and panel selections.
  • Design normal and emergency power systems including UPS, BESS for data center or science facilities.
  • Prepare electrical drawings and specifications per WSP standards and building codes.
  • Work with IT and security systems.
  • Attend client meetings and design team meetings.
  • Assist in fee proposal letters and RFP responses.
  • Coordinate with architects, mechanical, structural, civil engineers and other disciplines.
  • Review shop drawings and respond to RFIs.
  • Prepare site instructions and change notices.
  • Lead responses to RFQs.
  • Other duties as assigned.
We'd love to hear from you if you have
  • A strong understanding of electrical system design for data center or science facilities.
  • Experience with decarbonization projects.
  • A valid PEO license.
  • 3 to 5 years of consulting experience.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, Revit, ETAP, AGI32.
  • Experience with central plant designs.
  • Knowledge of power and lighting layouts, lightning protection, grounding and earthing.
  • Can‑do attitude, initiative, attention to detail, and strong organisational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Previous consulting experience in educational, recreational, cultural or sports facilities is an asset.
