Electrical Engineer

Hazen is currently seeking applicants for a mid-to-senior level Electrical Engineer for a full-time employment opportunity in our Calgary office. Applicants should have 15+ years of experience in industrial electrical engineering and design, a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a CEAB-accredited institution or a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution, and be registered with APEGA as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.). Registration in other provinces and a Professional Engineer (PE) licensure in the United States is also desired.

Candidate will provide electrical engineering and design for water and wastewater facility projects, serving as lead electrical engineer when required. Qualified candidate must have knowledge in industrial power design, including medium and low voltage electrical power distribution, motor control, VFDs, lighting systems, equipment layout, and related activities. Candidate must have a good working knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC) or National Electrical Code (NEC) and other related codes. Candidate must possess strong communication skills, including ability to interact with clients, contractors, and other engineers.

• Supervision of less experienced staff on a project
• Coordination with engineers of other disciplines
• Conducting field inspections of completed installations
• Conducting field visits as part condition assessments and/or design information gathering
• Engagement in Business Development activities such as proposal preparation and fee/scope development; fill the role of Project Manager for selected Electrical projects.

• Experience and proficiency with AutoCAD software
• Experience and proficiency with SKM and/or ETAP software
• Working knowledge of Revit BIM software
• Project leadership experience, preferably on larger projects
