The Sr. Project Manager will work with various teams within Ontario Health (OH) and with external partners, clients, and vendors to ensure the OH Cloud Transformation initiative is delivered in a timely and efficient manner with the highest level of quality. Large-scale, complex assignments should be expected and may lack clarity of goals and strategy. The Sr. Project Manager utilizes their education and experience to define options on the approach to take while solving complex problems. They will collaborate with senior management and sponsors to clarify goals and identify strategies for successful delivery. Comfort with ambiguity and adaptability to constant change are essential.
- Develop project documentation including charter, integrated project plan, project schedule, status reports, meeting notes, and other artifacts.
- Issue Project Change Requests (PCRs) for changes in scope, schedule, budget, and release strategy.
- Provide financial forecasts and track actual costs against the approved budget.
- Build a roadmap for OH Data Center migration to AWS, including:
- Assess workloads and validate VM lists.
- Categorize by product and operational areas.
- Add end-of-life information for prioritization.
- Engage directors/managers for migration plans (AWS, Azure, or decommission).
- Sequence migration and build cloud-native architectures.
- Track and report progress to executives; propose innovative solutions to accelerate migration.
- Ensure on-time, on-budget, and on-scope completion of projects compliant with legislation and internal policies.
- Manage resources, scope, budget, schedule, and quality of deliverables.
- Establish and maintain effective communication with sponsors, partners, vendors, and team members.
- Organize and lead project meetings.
- Implement effective change control and manage IT Requests for Change (RFCs).
- Identify and manage risks; resolve or upscale issues.
- Adhere to Ontario Health policies including Privacy, Security, and Record Management.
- Manage release of products/projects to operational environments.
- 11+ years managing large, complex projects.
- 7+ years in technical infrastructure design and deployment.
- 7+ years in application development and deployment (SDLC).
- 7+ years in large transformation projects (data center to cloud: AWS & Azure).
- Expertise in project management methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
- Experience in healthcare or similar large-scale industries.
- Strong knowledge of SDLC and project cost accounting.
- Proven ability to deliver complex IT projects under challenging circumstances.
- Superior leadership and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Azure DevOps, Microsoft Project, Visio, SharePoint, Jira, and Confluence.
- Technical experience as a developer or architect (asset).
- Program and Portfolio Management knowledge.
- IT Infrastructure and ITIL experience.
- Awareness of current technology trends.
- Familiarity with healthcare legislation (e.g., PHIPA).
- Deep knowledge of technical infrastructure and application deployment.
- Knowledge of PM methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, Hybrid).
- SDLC expertise.
- Budget management and cost accounting.
- Leadership and communication.
- Relationship building and conflict resolution.
- Analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft and productivity tools.
- Managing projects in healthcare/government or comparable private sectors.
- Large-scale cloud transformation projects (AWS & Azure).
