Cloud Engineer Managed Services

Location: British Columbia, Canada

Key Responsibilities
  • Cloud Infrastructure Design : Design cloud architectures and solutions that align with business requirements, selecting appropriate services, platforms, and deployment models (public, private, or hybrid).
  • Cloud Platform Implementation : Deploy and configure cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or other providers, provisioning VMs, containers, storage, networking, and IAM policies.
  • Automation & Orchestration : Develop automation scripts, templates, and workflows using IaC tools (Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible) to streamline provisioning and configuration.
  • Security & Compliance : Implement security controls, encryption, access policies, firewalls, identity providers, and monitoring tools to protect cloud environments and meet regulatory standards.
  • Performance Optimization : Monitor and optimize cloud-based applications, analyze resource usage, identify bottlenecks, and apply tuning strategies to improve scalability and cost efficiency.
  • CI/CD Implementation : Build CI/CD pipelines and automation workflows to enable rapid, reliable deployment of software in cloud environments, integrating version control, build tools, testing frameworks, and deployment pipelines.
  • Collaboration & Documentation : Work with developers, sysadmins, and security teams to integrate cloud solutions with existing systems; document architecture designs, deployment processes, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of cloud computing principles, architectures, and best practices; hands‑on experience with AWS, Azure, or other cloud platforms.
  • Proficiency in scripting/programming languages such as Python, PowerShell, or Bash for automation and scalable solutions.
  • Technical problem‑solving skills, capable of tackling complex issues without established procedures.
  • Ability to focus on internal teams and customer cloud workloads, supporting cross‑functional initiatives.
Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Computer Engineering, or a related field with focus on Cloud Computing coursework.
Experience
  • 3‑5 years of experience architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions on AWS, demonstrating application of the AWS Well‑Architected Framework.
Required Licenses/Certifications
  • AWS certification path: SysOps Administrator, Security Specialty, DevOps Engineer, Advanced Networking, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect.
