*What you’ll do?*
We are looking for a Systems Administrator who can implement, monitor, and support highly available IT solutions across multiple sites. This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, balancing routine office hours at our Edinburgh head office with remote work flexibility. With the opportunity of infrequent visits to our other sites.
As well as the day to day maintenance, you’ll be influencing the design and delivery of our on-premise and cloud solutions for all corporate staff, leading and contributing to numerous projects, ranging from small scale implementations to new business-wide processes.
*Key responsibilities:*
- Support our virtualised server and desktop environment, across both VMWare vSphere and Microsoft Azure
- Maintain our on-premises hardware across multiple UK offices, primarily storage and compute
- Manage both our on-premises AD environment and our Entra tenant
- Lead projects with all teams in Zonal, designing and implementing new tools, processes, and procedures
- Work closely with our Security team and relevant business functions to implement and routinely test BCP processes, with an emphasis on our backups
- Provision and update certificates and DNS for our public domains
- Act as an escalation point for the internal IT team, owning critical or high-level tickets, maintaining excellent communication with stakeholders throughout
- Have a heavy focus on security, dealing with incidents promptly and suggesting and implementing improvements where possible
- Participate in on-call cover, with the ability to lead a DR response in the event of an emergency
*Key Skills:*
You should have a background maintaining infrastructure and services that are utilised by a wide-ranging set of teams with different needs and requirements, having spent some of your career as a member of a team responsible for end-to-end delivery, from hardware to the end user platform experience.
- Experience working with a virtualised server environment providing core functions, with VMWare vSphere and Microsoft Azure experience desirable
- Windows Server 2019 – 2025 experience, including centralised enterprise administration, with MCM/SCCM knowledge desirable
- Hands on administration of datacentre hardware, primarily enterprise storage and compute
- Solid grasp of monitoring and alerting
- Strong understanding of security, disaster recovery, and data protection concepts
- Comfortable with fundamental networking concepts
- Experience doing end-to-end documenting of solutions, both for internal technical teams and end users
- Quick to spot opportunities and areas for improvement
- Organised, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, autonomous environment where you will lead projects with multiple stakeholder interests
- A team player that enjoys influencing change and continual improvement
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to connect with multiple stakeholders
*Desirable skills:*
- Experience with hypervisors other than VMWare
- Experience or knowledge of identity management, particularly centred around Microsoft Entra
- Experience managing DR scenarios
- Experience managing critical backups
- Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining SQL server setups
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: £40,000.00-£48,000.00 per year
