Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.
Job Summary
The Business Data Analyst is a pivotal role in advancing data-informed decision-making within the division by supporting strategic objectives of Cabinet and division leaders. This position is responsible for collecting, interpreting, and analyzing data from multiple sources to inform operational and financial activities. The analyst develops and delivers accurate, timely, and customized reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that provide actionable insights for stakeholders. In addition to managing and auditing analytical tools, reporting systems, and dashboards, the analyst ensures data accuracy and consistency by validating calculations and resolving data anomalies. Through predictive analytics and root cause analysis, the analyst identifies key trends, correlations, and areas for improvement, recommending strategies to enhance processes and operational effectiveness. The role requires proactive collaboration with division offices, campus stakeholders, and the Office of Information Technology Services, ensuring that all data initiatives are aligned with the university's overarching data strategy. Additionally, the analyst supports strategic planning and budgeting functions by contributing to revenue forecasting and providing analytical expertise for planning and process improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities

Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting: Gather, interpret, and analyze data from multiple sources to support decision-making and operational activities within the division and its offices. Produce recurring, ad hoc, and customized reports, dashboards, and data visualizations that provide timely, accurate, and relevant insights for stakeholders. Employ predictive analytics and root cause analysis to identify trends, correlations, and potential areas of concern, recommending actionable strategies for improvement.

Management and Enhancement of Analytical Systems: Develop, maintain, and audit analytical tools, reporting systems, and dashboards to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and integrity across key metrics and data sets. Validate calculations, troubleshoot data irregularities, and support ongoing data governance processes. Research and implement new methods to automate and streamline reporting and analytics procedures for continuous process improvement.

Stakeholder Collaboration and Data Fulfillment: Respond promptly and thoroughly to data requests from division offices and campus stakeholders, leveraging available tools and resources to resolve issues and provide information. Collaborate closely with the Office of Information Technology Services and other stakeholders to ensure alignment with the university's data strategy and to address a high volume of system-related activities while maintaining quality standards.

Support for Strategic Planning and Budgeting: Assist the Office of Budget Services in revenue forecasting by developing and maintaining projection tools. Provide analytical support for strategic initiatives and planning activities, delivering insights that inform financial and operational decision-making. Take on additional responsibilities as assigned to support the division's data and budgetary needs.

Bachelor's Degree
Required Experience
At least five years of experience in data analysis, including hands-on experience writing coding statements for data extraction, transformation, and reporting purposes. Must possess strategic and analytical thinking skills, with the ability to solve problems and make effective decisions.

Proposed Salary
$57,056 to $80,000 annually. Paid on a monthly basis.
