POSITION OVERVIEW
A Welder at Razorback LLC is responsible for performing high‑quality structural welding and supporting mechanical tasks across industrial project sites. This position involves SMAW and GMAW structural welding, fabrication, rigging, and the safe operation of torches, plasma cutters, and various hand tools. Mechanical responsibilities may include basic pipe fitting, pipe installation, and equipment installation. Work is performed according to project specifications, safety standards, and instructions from the Team Leader or Foreman to ensure all structures and mechanical components meet Razorback LLC's performance and quality expectations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform SMAW and GMAW structural welding in accordance with project requirements, weld procedures, and safety standards.
- Operate oxy‑fuel torches, plasma cutters, grinders, saws, and related tools safely and effectively.
- Support fabrication tasks, including cutting, beveling, fitting, and assembling metal components.
- Assist with rigging operations to safely move, position, and secure materials or equipment.
- Perform light mechanical work, such as basic pipe fitting, pipe installation, and equipment installation on project sites.
- Follow instructions from the Foreman or Team Leader to complete assigned welding and mechanical tasks.
- Conduct equipment setup, operation, and basic maintenance to ensure safe and reliable use.
- Maintain clean and safe work areas, ensuring hazards are removed and workspaces comply with safety protocols.
- Collaborate with team members and communicate progress, challenges, or needed resources to supervisors.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures, including Razorback LLC's safety practices and employee handbook.
- Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
Welding-Focused Responsibilities
- Prepare metal surfaces and components for welding, ensuring proper fit‑up and alignment.
- Position, clamp, or secure components using proper tools and rigging methods.
- Assist with weld inspection preparation, including cleaning and finalizing weld areas.
- Follow all welding safety protocols, including correct use of PPE such as face shields, welding helmets, FR clothing, and gloves.
- Ensure proper ventilation and safe working conditions in all welding areas.
Mechanical-Focused Responsibilities
- Support mechanical installation tasks, including basic pipe fitting, placement, and alignment.
- Assist with installing industrial equipment or structural components under the direction of a supervisor.
- Participate in mechanical troubleshooting and equipment adjustments as needed.
- Handle tools and materials safely while following mechanical safety procedures and lockout/tagout requirements where applicable.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating instructions, weld symbols, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to write routine reports, documentation, and job-related correspondence.
- Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to listen, follow instructions, and communicate effectively with supervisors and team members.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work cooperatively as part of a team.
- Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to assess conditions, identify issues, and determine practical solutions.
- Results‑oriented mindset focused on producing high‑quality work in a timely and accurate manner.
- Basic mathematical skills including the ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and calculate ratios or percentages.
- Ability to interpret diagrams, drawings, and written instructions.
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Preferred experience as an apprentice or construction worker.
- Knowledge of OSHA guidelines, equipment, and construction procedures including an understanding of hydraulic and electrical systems.
- Valid and unencumbered state Driver's License.
- The ability to drive to each construction project site and ensure reliable transportation to various locations as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. - Standing and Walking: Employee is required to stand and walk for extended periods across uneven, slippery, and unpredictable terrain typical of active construction sites.
- Kneeling, Reaching, and Manual Work: Frequent kneeling, squatting, bending, climbing, and reaching overhead and at ground level are essential for completing construction tasks. Proficient use of hands and arms for the manipulation of tools, operation of equipment, and handling of construction materials is mandatory.
- Physical Strength and Lifting Requirements: This role necessitates the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull objects weighing up to 50 pounds independently. Regular performance of physically strenuous activities, including manual excavation, demolition, and material movement, is expected.
- Vision Requirements: The position demands keen visual acuity. Employees must accurately distinguish colors, perceive depth, and focus clearly across varying distances and light conditions to execute tasks such as blueprint reading, measurement verification, and hazard identification.
- Hearing Requirements: The ability to discern and interpret verbal communication, audible alarms, and equipment signals in high-noise environments (such as those created by heavy machinery and construction tools) is essential to ensure operational safety and effective team coordination.
- Climbing and Heights: Regular duties may require climbing ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, and other elevated platforms. Employees must demonstrate balance, agility, and adherence to fall protection protocols as dictated by OSHA standards.
- Environmental Endurance: Employees must withstand prolonged exposure to outdoor elements, including extreme heat, humidity, rain, dust, and wind, consistent with Florida's climate. This role also entails working within confined spaces and areas with limited ventilation.
- Manual Dexterity: Fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination are critical for the safe operation of power tools, precision equipment, and the handling of construction materials.
- Worksite Conditions: Employees must be prepared to work in active construction zones that involve moving vehicles, heavy machinery, elevated noise levels, airborne dust, and other typical construction hazards. Adherence to all personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements and safety protocols is always mandatory. Use of respirators is required during tasks involving sandblasting, painting, or exposure to airborne particulates.
This position operates exclusively in the field at active construction project locations and does not offer a remote or hybrid work environment. Employees must demonstrate consistent physical fitness, situational awareness, and compliance with all site-specific safety policies.
