The Regulatory Manager is responsible for overseeing product regulatory compliance, chemical management, and documentation requirements across all operating divisions. This role ensures that products, raw materials, labels, SDSs, and regulatory submissions meet all applicable federal, state, and provincial standards. The position partners closely with Product Development, Operations, Quality, and the Senior Safety Manager to maintain accurate regulatory documentation and uphold the organization's commitment to safe, compliant, and high-quality products.

Product Regulatory Compliance

  • Maintain and update Safety Data Sheets (SDS), product labels, and hazard classifications in alignment with GHS, OSHA, CEPA, and other applicable standards.
  • Ensure compliant labeling and documentation for all product lines across divisions.
  • Review and approve raw material SDSs, supplier compliance documentation, and regulatory certifications.
  • Monitor changes in chemical regulations, emerging requirements, and industry standards impacting formulations and labeling.

Environmental & Chemical Documentation

  • Prepare or support regulatory submissions including SARA 311/312, Tier II, and TRI Form R.
  • Maintain accurate VOC content data, product regulatory attributes, and state-specific compliance documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to manage chemical inventories, TSCA/CEPA compliance checks, and regulatory recordkeeping.

Auditing, Reporting & Customer Support

  • Lead internal regulatory audits to ensure compliance with chemical management and product stewardship requirements.
  • Respond to customer and distributor regulatory questionnaires, documentation requests, and product compliance inquiries.
  • Support external audits or reviews by regulatory agencies or third-party partners.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Product Development and R&D to ensure new and reformulated products meet regulatory requirements.
  • Work closely with Quality to maintain accurate product certifications and regulatory documentation.
  • Support the Senior Safety Manager by providing regulatory expertise related to chemical classification and product hazard information.

Systems & Documentation Management

  • Maintain electronic systems for SDS, product labels, and regulatory documentation.
  • Ensure version control, accuracy, and availability of all regulatory documents for internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Environmental Science, Regulatory Affairs, Industrial Hygiene, or related field; equivalent experience considered.
  • 3–7 years of regulatory, product stewardship, or compliance experience in chemical, coatings, manufacturing, or industrial product environments.
  • Working knowledge of GHS, OSHA HazCom, TSCA, CEPA, SARA, and related regulatory frameworks.
  • Experience managing SDS authoring, product labeling, and chemical hazard classification.
  • Strong analytical skills and exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and operational teams.
  • Proven ability to manage documentation, maintain regulatory systems, and prioritize compliance tasks effectively.
  • Experience managing EPA programs including:
  • SWPPP – Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan
  • SPCC – Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure
  • Hazardous Waste / RCRA Compliance – Resource Conservation and Recovery Act
