Job Description:
Under the direction of the Registered Nurse (RN), this position provides care for women and newborns. The Labor/Delivery Scrub Tech utilizes sterile techniques to prepare surgical suites for C-Section and tubal ligation cases, prepares delivery tables for vaginal births, and functions as an operating room technician, assisting physicians with surgical procedures. Location: St. George Hospital – St. George, Utah
Schedule: Full-time | 36 hours/week | 12-hour shifts
Shifts: Variable, mix of days, evenings, nights, weekends & holidays

* This is a Certified Nursing Assistant position that will learn to Scrub within 90 days of hire.
*Rotating holidays and one mandatory on-call shift for every 8-weeks schedule.
Essential Functions
- Ensures that the patient room is ready to receive the patient with equipment and supplies necessary during the labor and delivery process. May be responsible for maintaining and stocking birthing rooms appropriately.
- Assists patients with bed baths, showering, use of bed pans and restrooms, foley catheter care, and ambulation.
- Obtains and documents vital signs of patients and newborns before, during, and after delivery.
- Prepares the room for vaginal delivery by draping the patient and preparing appropriate equipment, including the delivery table, and assists the RN.
- Prepares the room for C-Section by preparing the patient, scrubbing for procedures, setting up and passing instruments, and completing all instrument, sponge, and sharp counts with the RN. Ensures sterility is maintained throughout the operative procedure.
- Understands the plan of care and delivers basic patient care by collecting and documenting patient data and reporting patient changes to the RN.

Minimum Qualifications
Current Nursing Assistant Certification (CNA) in the state of practice.
Basic Life Support Certification (BLS) for healthcare providers.
Demonstrated basic computer literacy skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Previous experience as Certified Nursing Assistant in Labor and Delivery or an Orderly (CNA) in (OR) Operating Room.
Physical Requirements:
- Ongoing need for employee to see and read information, labels, assess patient needs, operate monitors, identify equipment and supplies.
- Frequent interactions with patient care providers, patients, and visitors that require employee to verbally communicate as well as hear and understand spoken information, alarms, needs, and issues quickly and accurately, particularly during emergency situations.
- Manual dexterity of hands and fingers to manipulate complex and delicate equipment with precision and accuracy. This includes frequent computer use and typing for documenting patient care, accessing needed information, medication preparation, etc.
