Job Title: Field Network Engineer (On-Site)
Location: Within 50-mile radius of Manchester, NH (Southern NH/Northern MA preferred)
Engagement Type: 12-Month Contract-to-Hire
Weekly Hours: 40 hours/week
Salary Range: $75K – $120K depending on experience
Overview
Join a mission-driven healthcare organization as a Field Network Engineer supporting a robust, multi-site Cisco infrastructure across New Hampshire and Vermont. This is a hands-on, field-based engineering role focused on upgrading, optimizing, and troubleshooting enterprise-grade networks across 70+ clinical and administrative locations. You'll work independently and collaboratively with internal network teams to ensure high availability, performance, and compliance across LAN/WAN environments.
Core Responsibilities
Lead switch closet refreshes, router upgrades, and network hardware deployments
Troubleshoot and optimize LAN/WAN and wireless infrastructure across distributed sites
Serve as the primary field engineer for urgent network incidents and escalations
Collaborate with centralized network engineering and operations teams to implement enterprise standards
Maintain accurate network documentation, diagrams, and asset inventories
Participate in on-call rotation and respond to high-priority outages or degradations
Coordinate third-party field resources and ensure quality control across installations
Technical Requirements
3–5+ years of hands-on experience with Cisco networking technologies
Strong command of Cisco routers and switches (Access, Distribution, Core)
Familiarity with Cisco UCS, SD-WAN, ISE, Firepower, and Wi-Fi 6/7
Experience with SolarWinds or similar network monitoring platforms
Solid troubleshooting skills across Layer 2/3, wireless, and NAC environments
Scripting experience (PowerShell, Bash, Python) is a plus
Comfortable working in environments with limited ticketing systems (e.g., Sherwell)
Soft Skills
Self-directed and resourceful with strong diagnostic instincts
Clear communicator who thrives in cross-functional collaboration
Comfortable traveling locally and working independently in dynamic field settings
Able to prioritize and execute under pressure with professionalism
Education & Certification
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field—or equivalent experience
Must obtain a relevant network certification (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+) within the first year
Additional Details
Travel required across regional service area (up to 90%)
Opportunity for full-time conversion based on performance
