Brief Description
POSITION SUMMARY:
The department lead is someone that can motivate employees, identify process waste, recommend, and implement improvements. The department Lead should also be able to assist the Production Supervisor in carrying out key initiatives that help improve Key Performance Indicators in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost as they pertain to the department's plan.

Essential Functions Statement(s)
- Perform quality work checks to ensure the department's work meets quality standards
- Ensure department completes necessary paperwork or checklists
- Ensure department has all necessary PPE, tools, and resources to maintain the production schedule
- Mentor department on safe work practices
- Record safety hazards and escalate, if necessary, per company policy
- Actively train new and less-experienced team members on the functions and expectations of the job
- Supports and demonstrates a well-organized, safe, and clean workplace
- Lead start and end of shift meetings
- Provides technical expertise as needed
- As job requirements change daily, and in line with our flexible lean environment; may be required to fill other positions on an "as needed basis" for production requirements or cross training opportunities
- Meet production requirements and implement countermeasures (restore flow, close gaps, address root cause) when not met
- Conducts audits to verify safe work practices, quality procedures, and standard work are followed by team members
- Facilitates minor individual and team conflict resolution
**SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Education:**
- High School Diploma or equivalent, preferred.
Experience:
- Experience in a manufacturing or construction environment
- 1 year of custom air handler manufacturing experience, preferred
- Experience with cross-functional team and multi-tasking, preferred
Computer Skills:
- Basic Computer Skills
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, preferred
Certificates & Licenses:
- Crane certification, preferred
- Hot work certification, preferred
- Forklift certification, required
Other Requirements:
- Must be able to read and communicate in English.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, detail oriented and ability to adapt to a variety of issues that require prompt and efficient resolutions.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
