GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
At Stancil Services, our plumbing teams take pride in delivering high-quality rough-in installations that form the foundation of every successful project. The Rough Foreman - Plumbing provides leadership, coordination, and on-site direction to rough-in crews to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and according to Stancil's standards of craftsmanship and professionalism.
This position oversees rough-in teams, supports layout and installation planning, ensures compliance with code and project specifications, and serves as the primary field contact for supervisors. The Rough Foreman plays a critical role in maintaining workflow, solving field challenges, and developing junior rough-in staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provides direct task leadership to rough-in crews including Rough 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Man team members.
- Assists with onboarding and training of crew members on Stancil procedures, safety protocols, and installation standards.
Essential Job Functions
- Oversee daily rough-in plumbing activities, ensuring crews complete work to Stancil quality standards.
- Interpret plans, layouts, and specifications; communicate installation requirements to crew members.
- Coordinate daily workflow, sequencing, and task assignments for the rough-in team.
- Execute and guide advanced rough-in installations including supply lines, drainage systems, vent stacks, and piping assemblies.
- Ensure work complies with applicable plumbing codes, project drawings, and company installation standards.
- Perform quality checks and verify accuracy of measurements, elevations, and pipe routing.
- Identify and resolve field conflicts involving layout, trades coordination, or material constraints.
- Communicate daily progress, issues, and needs to the Plumbing Field Manager or Lead Plumber.
- Maintain accurate material counts, forecast upcoming needs, and coordinate replenishment.
- Promote and enforce jobsite safety; address hazards and ensure proper use of PPE.
- Mentor junior team members and help develop their technical skills.
- Coordinate with other trades to ensure proper spacing, routing, and system integration.
- Maintain clean, organized, and safe work areas throughout the jobsite.
- Represent Stancil Services professionally in all interactions.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education, Experience And Training
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED, college, technical or trade school transcript, or foreign equivalent).
- 4+ years of plumbing experience preferred, with strong demonstrated rough-in expertise.
- Prior field leadership experience or demonstrated readiness to lead crews.
- Ability to read, interpret, and communicate plumbing drawings, plans, and rough-in diagrams.
- Strong understanding of plumbing code, venting requirements, routing standards, and best practices.
- Proficiency with plumbing hand and power tools.
- Effective communication skills and ability to coordinate crew activities.
- Physical strength and stamina required for daily fieldwork.
- Valid U.S. driver's license preferred; insurable MVR helpful.
- Willingness to support continuous improvement and professional development.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT AND CONDITIONS
- Work is performed primarily on active construction job sites.
- Exposure to a range of environmental conditions including heat above 90°F, cold below 32°F, moisture, dust, and weather elements.
- Frequent walking, standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, lifting, and carrying materials.
- Must be able to lift and carry 75 pounds regularly.
- Work may occur in crawl spaces, attics, trenches, confined spaces, or elevated areas.
- Noise levels range from moderate to loud depending on jobsite conditions.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT
- Hand tools: pipe cutters, crimp tools, pliers, wrenches, screwdrivers, levels, tape measures, utility knives.
- Power tools: drills, impacts, saws, compact threaders, plumbing snakes, specialty plumbing equipment.
- PPE: hard hat, gloves, safety glasses, boots, hearing protection, high-visibility vest.
- Jobsite support equipment: ladders, scaffolds, carts, material-handling tools.
- Company-issued technology as required (tablet, phone, communication tools)
