Assistant Production Manager

Job Description
*POSITION SUMMARY *
The Assistant Production Manager supports the Production Manager in overseeing daily manufacturing operations to ensure production goals are met safely, efficiently, and of high quality. This role assists in coordinating staffing, workflow, equipment, and resources while promoting continuous improvement and maintaining a positive working environment. The Assistant Production Manager acts as a key leader on the production floor and serves as the primary point of contact in the Production Manager's absence.

Required Minimum Qualifications
Associate or bachelor's degree in manufacturing, Business, Operations Management, or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered.

2+ years of manufacturing or production leadership experience required.

Experience in high-volume or fast-paced production environments is a plus.

Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to multitask, prioritize, and adapt to changing production needs.

Knowledge of manufacturing processes, equipment, and safety regulations.

Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word; experience with production management systems preferred.

Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on efficiency and continuous improvement.

*FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSABILITIES *
Assist in planning, organizing, and monitoring daily production activities to meet output, quality, and delivery targets.

Coordinate workflow across departments to ensure smooth, efficient operations.

Monitor production schedules and adjust resources as needed to address delays or changes in demand.

Ensure proper use, maintenance, and cleanliness of equipment and production areas.

Provide daily directions and support to production leads and line workers.

Promote a safe, respectful, and productive work environment.

Participate in training, coaching, and performance feedback for production employees.

Help resolve conflicts, escalate issues appropriately, and model company policies and standards.

Assist with quality control efforts to ensure products meet company and customer specifications.

Ensure compliance with company policies, safety regulations, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Support corrective and preventive action initiatives to reduce errors and improve consistency.

Enforce all safety guidelines and promote a culture of safety awareness.

Assist with accident investigations, safety audits, and corrective actions.

Ensure employees use required PPE and always follow safety protocols.

Identify opportunities to improve production efficiency, reduce waste, and optimize processes.

Participate in Lean, 5S, or other continuous improvement initiatives.

Support implementation of new systems, equipment, and processes.

Assist in preparing production reports, metrics, and updates for leadership.

Communicate daily production expectations, changes, and issues to team leaders and employees.

Collaborate with other departments to support consistent operations.
