Our busy logistics center in San Jose, California, is seeking an experienced Material Handler to join our dedicated team. This role is critical for the efficient movement and organization of inventory within the warehouse, ensuring smooth operational flow and timely fulfillment of orders. The Material Handler will operate forklifts and other specialized equipment, manage the loading and unloading of trucks, and ensure materials are correctly positioned for storage or distribution. Safety is paramount in our operations, and all employees are required to follow strict safety protocols, including the mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This position requires a high level of physical stamina, including frequent heavy lifting, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. You will be a key contributor to our supply chain success, working collaboratively with team members to meet operational goals. A thorough understanding of warehouse procedures, safety regulations, and logistics is essential. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, reach trucks, order pickers, and other powered industrial trucks safely.
- Load and unload trailers and containers with precision and care.
- Move materials between various warehouse zones, including receiving, storage, and shipping.
- Stage products for outgoing shipments, ensuring accuracy.
- Conduct daily pre-operational checks on equipment and report any issues.
- Maintain accurate inventory records and assist with regular stocktakes.
- Champion safety by adhering to all company policies, including the correct use of PPE.
- Keep the work environment clean, organized, and hazard-free.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing goods for damage or discrepancies.
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to optimize workflow.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; some college or vocational training preferred.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience operating forklifts and other powered industrial equipment.
- Valid forklift operator certification.
- Demonstrated ability for significant lifting (up to 75 lbs) and sustained physical exertion.
- Deep understanding of warehouse safety standards, OSHA regulations, and PPE requirements.
- Familiarity with logistics, supply chain, and inventory management systems.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively in a physically demanding, fast-paced setting.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, as needed.
