Cambrian Credit Union is currently seeking a part-time Human Resources Student Associate on a 14-16 month term to join our People & Culture team.
The Human Resources Student Associate will provide administrative and recruitment support to Cambrian's Human Resources team. This part-time role is designed for students currently enrolled in a Human Resources program who are seeking hands-on, practical experience in a dynamic HR environment.
Reporting to the Manager, Human Resources, the HR Student Associate works closely with the Human Resource Advisors to support day-to-day HR operations and talent acquisition activities. This includes assisting with interview coordination, candidate screening, reference and credit checks, contract drafting, and other administrative duties as assigned.
Designed for students, this role will work 10-20 hours per week based on both business need and the employee's availability, with additional hours available during school breaks. The position offers flexible hours (days, evenings, weekends) and a hybrid remote / in-office model to accommodate academic schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support recruitment activities by reviewing resumes, conducting pre-screen calls, scheduling interviews, and completing reference and credit checks.
- Draft employment contracts and onboarding documentation.
- Assist in maintaining accurate and confidential employee records and HR databases.
- Respond to routine HR-related inquiries or redirect as needed.
- Provide administrative support to HR programs, processes, and projects.
- Perform data entry, document preparation, and general office organization tasks.
- Collaborate closely with HR Advisors and the Manager, Human Resources to ensure effective communication and follow-up.
- Contribute to improving administrative efficiency and candidate experience in the recruitment process.
- Exercise discretion in handling confidential HR matters, seeking guidance for unfamiliar or complex tasks.
Your Education & Experience:
- Currently enrolled in a post-secondary Human Resources, Business Administration, or related program.
- Previous experience in an administrative or customer service role is an asset.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
- Demonstrated professionalism and a strong interest in the HR field.
