The Vonore, Tennessee location is recruiting for a ESH Supervisor role. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Environmental, Safety, and Health (ESH) Supervisor to join our team. Essential Duties and Accountabilities:
- Develop, implement, and evaluate programs and procedures to assure personnel and facility safety. Program areas include machine guarding, electrical, construction, chemical, air quality, waste management, water quality, and others.
- Participate in monitoring and controlling the organization's safety and environmental standards in accordance with Federal, State, local, and company requirements
- Conduct advanced trend analyses, audits, accident investigations, and site inspections of operational procedures, facility design, equipment, and material
- Analyze data in compliance with current regulations and make appropriate recommendations to prevent new or recurring issues
- Evaluate and approve new material and equipment requisitions, new and modified processes, and non-routine work
- Provide advice, instruction, requirements, and reports on matters pertaining to employee and facility safety as well as compliance with applicable regulations
- Assist in, develop, pursue, and achieve safety and environmental goals and objectives
- Coordinate Accident Prevention and Ergonomic Improvement Programs
- Develop, plan, and conduct safety and environmental training
- Assist in the review/revision and refocus of all current HS&E systems in facility: machine design practices, policy enforcement, incentive plans, accident investigations, safety committee, line audits, and employee accountability
- Assist in the revision and update of policies to maintain effectiveness
- Develop engineering standards for machine design including guarding, safety features, electrical code compliance, and physical demands/ergonomics
- Assure completion of regulatory permits and other government agency records
- Prepare and submit required reports to regulatory and governmental agencies
- Oversee implementation of plant security systems and contractors
- Perform ergonomic analysis of various workstations and prepare recommendations for improvement
- Work daily overtime and Saturdays and/or Sundays when directed by immediate supervisor or, as necessary, to complete essential job duties.
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Maintain privacy of all PHI in accordance with HIPAA regulations
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for supervising a department of two non-exempt employees in accordance with policies and procedures.
Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience managing people, projects and budgets.
- Strong leadership and communication skills.
- Strong knowledge of ergonomics and workplace design for the prevention of cumulative trauma injuries
- Ability to work independently
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word and Excel
- Able to handle confidential information and maintain the highest legal and ethical standards
- Basic knowledge of applicable quality, health, safety, and environmental management systems
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Engineering preferred or equivalent experience
- 5+ years of experience working in a safety related job in a mfg. setting. Automotive preferred not required.
- Knowledge and experience working with OSHA at state and federal levels.
The above may be modified by the department Manager and the Human Resources Manager if the candidate is otherwise qualified.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- Sit with intermittent walking
- Manual dexterity for such duties as stapling, collating, sorting, filing, typing, and writing
- Communicate (hearing and speech) with individuals in person and by phone
- Visually read reports, computer screen, etc.
- Maintain a minimum of 8 hours worked/day, 5 days/week
