Construction Safety Leader / Safety Manager (Remote)

RMR Mechanical is a leading industrial and mechanical contractor. We work in steel, pulp and paper, power, and all process industries. We have performed over 1300 projects since 2002. We are authorized to perform repair of pressure vessels (NBIC "R" Stamp), manufacture pressure vessels (ASME "U" Stamp), manufacture and assemble power boilers (ASME "S" Stamp); and authorized to register boilers and pressure vessels with the National Board "NB". Projects range from $5,000 emergencies to equipment retrofits and new construction in excess of $25,000,000.
Position Summary
RMR Mechanical is seeking an experienced Construction Safety Leader / Safety Manager to lead and continuously improve safety programs across our construction projects in the Southeastern United States. This role ensures compliance with OSHA and company standards, promotes a proactive safety culture, conducts audits and inspections, manages safety documentation, and provides leadership in risk management. The ideal candidate has 7–10 years of construction safety experience, strong leadership skills, and proficiency with safety management and compliance systems. Frequent travel throughout the Southeast is required.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and client-specific requirements.
- Lead safety training programs, including orientations, toolbox talks, and ongoing employee and subcontractor education.
- Conduct project kick-off safety meetings and deploy safety leads to ensure consistent safety practices.
- Perform regular site audits and inspections to identify hazards and enforce corrective actions.
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions; prepare reports and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain and submit safety documentation, including OSHA logs, safety statistics, Certificates of Insurance (COIs), drug testing logs, OCIP payroll reports, and other compliance records. Ensure all safety documentation is filed and retained for a minimum of five years.
- Manage compliance platforms (e.g., ISNetworld, Avetta) and safety management systems.
- Collaborate with project managers to integrate safety into planning and scheduling.
- Perform post-project safety reviews and communicate findings to leadership.
- Promote a proactive safety culture and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Certifications
- OSHA 30-Hour Construction Safety Certification (mandatory)
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Hazard Communication (HAZCOM) Training
- Fall Protection Competent Person Certification
- Drug and Alcohol Awareness Training
- 7–10 years of safety management experience in construction or industrial environments
- Strong leadership, communication, and coaching skills
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- Advanced certifications such as Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST) (preferred)
- Experience with Safety Management Systems and compliance platforms
- Knowledge of environmental regulations and sustainability practices
- Must pass a background check and drug screen
Physical & Travel Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, and climb ladders or scaffolding for extended periods
- Lift and carry up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Frequent travel across the Southeastern U.S., with occasional overnight stays
- Must maintain a valid driver's license and reliable transportation
