Software Engineer

Role Summary

As a
Software Engineer
at Ripplet, you'll be responsible for building and refining the core functionality of our mobile app using
TypeScript, React, and/or React Native
. Success in this role means developing clean, scalable, and reliable features that make it easy for students to discover and connect with others. You'll work closely with designers and fellow developers to turn ideas into a working product.

This position is
UNPAID
, but it offers hands-on experience building a real product from the ground up, the chance to strengthen your technical skills, and the opportunity to be part of a student-led startup launching right here at UCI.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain front-end features using
  React and/or React Native
• Write clean, well-structured code using
  TypeScript
• Collaborate with UI/UX designers to accurately implement designs and interactions
• Integrate APIs and backend services as needed
• Debug, test, and optimize app performance across devices
• Participate in feature planning, technical discussions, and code reviews
• Iterate quickly based on feedback from teammates and early users

Qualifications

• Must be a
  current UCI student
  with a valid
  email
• Experience with
  TypeScript
  and
  React or React Native
  (projects, coursework, or internships)
• Basic understanding of component-based architecture and state management
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and take ownership of features
• Passion for building products that help people connect and find community
