Position Overview
The Electrical Estimator/Project Manager is responsible for preparing accurate electrical construction estimates and managing projects from bid phase through completion. This role requires strong technical knowledge, the ability to interpret electrical drawings, and the skills to manage client communication, project schedules, and team coordination. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-focused, and experienced in both estimating and project execution.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating
- Review and analyze bid documents, including drawings, specifications, and RFIs.
- Identify and quantify project cost factor labor, materials, production time, and site conditions.
- Analyze blueprints to determine conduit/wire lengths, material requirements, and code-compliant equipment placement.
- Determine labor needs, material quantities, fixture types, and overall project cost.
- Prepare detailed estimates and submit competitive bids in accordance with company guidelines.
- Evaluate project profitability and provide cost-effective, value-engineered solutions.
- Maintain and update cost databases to reflect changes in labor and material pricing.
- Assess feasibility of in-house fabrication versus subcontracted work.
Project Management
- Prepare and manage project schedules and plans for field crews.
- Coordinate with team members to ensure timely completion of all tasks.
- Communicate with clients regarding project progress, issues, and expectations.
- Ensure projects are completed according to plan and specification requirements.
- Prepare and submit submittal packages as required.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, vendors, peers, and subcontractors.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 6 years of electrical construction estimating experience.
- Completion of a postsecondary electrician training program.
- Strong ability to interpret electrical blueprints.
- Proficiency with industry-standard tools:
- McCormick, RS Means, NECA MLU (or equivalent)
- Bluebeam, Enterprise
- Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel)
- Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organization, communication, and customer service abilities.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to travel locally for bid walkthroughs.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70, $130,000.00 per year
