Job Description:

Adjunct nursing instructors teach student nurses in the laboratory and clinical environments. They are expected to stay aware of the developments in evidenced based practice in the world of nursing so that they may incorporate them into their teachings. Adjunct instructors are responsible to teach and evaluate student nurses the major components of clinical practice at the bedside of patients. Conducts daily work in alignment with ASU Three Rivers mission and academic purpose.

Duties & Responsibilities:

· Clinical teaching in the various clinical facilities

· Evaluate student performance by observing laboratory and clinical skills

· Maintain and report clinical records, including attendance and student clinical performance evaluations (CPE)

· Maintain confidentiality in regard to student and patient information

· Stay current in nursing practice by attending in-service training and professional workshops

· Participation in divisional adjunct meetings

· Other duties as assigned

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing; define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; and effectively present information to students, staff, management, and clinical facilities
  • Demonstrate organizational skills in handling, directing, and prioritizing multiple and complex student assignments
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with students, college employees, and the clinical facilities

Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this job the employee is frequently required to stand; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk or hear; and taste or smell. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close and distant vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
The typical working environment for the Dean of Health Sciences is an office, classroom, or clinical setting. The Dean will also meet at various locations in order to satisfy certain obligation for the position.

Required Qualifications:

  • B.S.N. degree is preferred
  • At least two years of nursing experience
  • Current Unencumbered RN license for RN adjunct
  • Current Unencumbered PN license for PN adjunct
  • CPR Certification
  • Current health (TB) card
