Who we are:

The Gill Corporation is one of the world's largest manufacturers of honeycomb, high performance floor panels, cargo compartment liners and original equipment for passenger and freighter aircraft. The company also excels in many other types of reinforced plastics including interior sandwich panels for creating structures such as aircraft galleys and bulkheads, honeycomb core and related products.

The Gill Corporation is seeking a Quality Engineer who will perform daily operations and activities related to Non-conformance identification, evaluation and reporting, Corrective & Preventive Action investigation and reporting, Supplier Qualification/Certification processes and performing and recording root cause analysis; QE will be highly involved in compliance issues related to aerospace and defense requirements as defined in AS9100. 

Reporting to the Quality Control Manager, they will perform but not be limited to the following responsibilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to customer complaints by addressing corrective actions to be completed at scheduled dates
  • Support Operations Engineers and/or Quality Manager with customer interfaces as necessary to address quality related issues; monitor and document customer rejections per GOS
  • Develop sections of quality metrics, design, and production certification plans to ensure compliance with contractual, company, and regulatory requirements
  • Perform data analysis to ensure manufacturing and test readiness
  • Prep and analyze non-conformance trends to evaluate effectiveness of corrective actions
  • Create inspection plans defining the appropriate means for validating requirements.
  • Perform Failure Mode and Effect Analysis (PFMEA).
  • Read and understand customer specifications, process standards, ANSI procedures, industry standards and drawings (blue print).
  • Compile performance report and other statistical data to ensure specified processes capability levels are achieved.
  • Review, update, implement changes and establish standards to controlled documents (GOS, GMS, GPS...)
  • Generate first article inspection (FAI) documentation to AS 9102 standards
  • Generate Quality Reports
  • Proficient on Statistical Process Control (SPC) documentation and interpretation.
  • Engineering design interpretation with CATIA and Model Based Definition.
  • Understanding GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and ASME Y14.5 standard preferred.
  • Other essential duties may be assigned.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Science (Chemical, Mechanical, Material Science, Aerospace, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or a related field)
  • Minimum 2 years of experience working in a manufacturing environment as a Quality Engineer or Quality Specialist
  • Experience with interfacing with customers to perform audits, handle concerns/complaints, and provide updates
  • Knowledge of AS9100 and ISO standards; ASQ auditor certification is preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and hands on mentality
  • Ability to adjust to continuously shifting priorities
  • Proficient computer skills - Microsoft suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
  • Comfortable working on and around equipment and using proper PPE
  • Ability to adjust to continuously shifting priorities
  • Experience with composite materials and/or material sciences a plus
  • Knowledge CAD experience a plus (CATIA, Solidworks, AutoCAD)
  • SAP experience a plus
  • Language Skills: English
