Location: Aberdeen, WA

Salary: $3,665 - $4,882.00 Monthly. The salary does not include an on-site 24/7 facility 5% premium.

Schedules: Sat - Tues 9 pm - 7 am / 5% Facility Pay / Shift Differential

Weds - Sat 1 pm - 11 pm / 5% Facility Pay / Shift Differential

Sun - Weds 1 pm - 11 pm / 5% Facility Pay / Shift Differential

The Department of Children, Youth, and Families (DCYF) Medical team at Harbor Heights is looking for Medical Assistants to join a caring team whose mission is to provide adjudicated youth with access to quality healthcare that positively and restoratively impacts the lives of the youth we serve. You can make a difference while growing in your practice. You will perform duties required to assist health care professionals in the examination and treatment of residents.

The Opportunity:
In this role, you will administer medications, prepare the resident environment for treatment, provide immunizations under nursing and physician direction, conduct basic laboratory point of care testing and electrocardiogram tests, provide clinic support, upload medical documents, and clerical reception functions.

Some of what you will do:

  • Administer daily prescription medications per physicians' order. Document administration in the youth's medication administration record. Monitor for side effects as indicated.
  • Under nursing direction prepare, administer, and document vaccinations per physician order. Ensure appropriate documentation of vaccinations in the Washington State Immunization Information System (WA-IIS).
  • Present notification of anaphylactic allergies to residential support staff under direction of nursing staff.
  • Present notification of resident use of Rescue Inhaled medications to residential support staff under direction of nursing staff.
  • Assist with youth triage, clinic reception, and the intake receiving screening process.
  • Schedules new, return, routine, and specialty off campus appointments, entering information into Medical Record system.
  • Prepares patients for and assists health care professionals with examinations and procedures.
  • Perform: Vital signs, 12-lead electrocardiogram including rhythm strips, venipuncture for blood draws, basic wound care, collection of urine and stool samples, point of care tests (throat, wound, nasal swabs; etc.); documents interventions in the EMR.
  • Records management.

What we are looking for:
Completion of Medical Assistant course accredited by the American Association of Medical Assistants, or the Committee on Allied Education and Accreditation (CAHEA),
AND
Certification to practice as a Medical Assistant in the State of Washington.
AND
One year of experience providing direct patient care in a health care setting.

AND

In addition to those required qualifications, our ideal applicant will also have some or all of the following:

  • Experience working in a correctional or inpatient psychiatric setting.
  • Able to safeguard sensitive and confidential information and documents and maintain confidentiality regarding resident information ensuring compliance with state and federal privacy laws (HIPAA).
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to and appreciation of cultural diversity.
  • Ability to be flexible, adapt to change, and respect differences in opinion and values.
  • Read, interpret, and implement policies, rules, and regulations of considerable complexity.
  • Able to multi-task in a fast-paced work environment; handle multiple urgent issues at the same time, prioritize as needed, and keep key agency personnel notified.
