How would you contribute?

This role is a contributing member of our Airlite - Omaha team, located in Omaha, NE. As a Human Resources Generalist, you are a key to continued growth and success of Airlite. The HR Generalist partners with leaders, employees, and cross-functional HR teams to drive employee engagement, performance, and organizational effectiveness. Key responsibilities include advising leaders on employee relations, performance management, and talent decisions and conducting investigations and ensuring compliance with policies and legal requirements. This role also leverages HR data, training, and resources to strengthen retention, team effectiveness, and overall workforce outcomes.

Essential Duties:

  • Build relationships with leaders and employees to understand workplace needs, engagement drivers, and business priorities.
  • Partner with leaders to provide proactive HR guidance on business priorities, performance management, career development, employee relations, and conflict resolution.
  • Support and empower leaders through training, resources, and tools that strengthen employee engagement and retention.
  • Conduct effective investigations of workplace concerns and recommend and execute a course of action consistent with company practices and legal compliance.
  • Address highly critical or ethical concerns by promptly logging, investigating, taking appropriate action, and escalating to HR l leadership as needed.
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of employee relations policies and procedures.
  • Participate in interviews and collaborate with leaders on hiring decisions for leadership and critical roles.
  • Partner with leadership on employment-related decisions, including internal transfers, promotions, and other workforce changes.
  • Conduct exit interviews to identify areas for improvement and provide insights to leaders.
  • Leverage HR data and metrics to identify workforce trends to provide insights and recommendations to support leadership decisions and improve HR programs and initiatives.
  • Assist in workforce planning and organizational design efforts by updating job descriptions, supporting role evaluations, and providing recommendations to optimize team structure and effectiveness.
  • Provide guidance and support to leaders throughout the performance appraisal process including feedback delivery and documentation to ensure fair and effective evaluations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional HR teams on implementation of policies, training, programs, and initiatives, ensuring effective communication and smooth change management with business units and leaders.
  • Provide support and serve as a liaison as needed for other functional HR teams related to FMLA and ADA.
  • Draft and manage documentation for employment changes and update records in the HRIS system.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This role does not have personnel supervisory responsibilities; however, this role includes working with cross-functional teams in a matrixed organization.

Education / Experience / Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 3 years of Human Resources experience, including experience consulting on moderate level ER issues.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; stand; walk; use hand dexterity to operate office equipment including computer keyboards; reach with hands and arms; and talk and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 15 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The noise level in the office work environment is typically quiet; when visiting the production floor, the noise level may be loud.
