This is a hands-on, SQL-heavy role focused on governance, stewardship, and data integrity—not BI reporting or dashboarding.
*Key Objectives*
* Establish enterprise-wide *data standards, definitions, and documentation*
* Improve *data quality, consistency, and trust* across systems
* Create foundational governance artifacts to support future integration and engineering efforts
* Act as a bridge between business stakeholders and technical teams
*Core Responsibilities*
*Data Governance & Stewardship*
* Lead the creation and ongoing maintenance of a *comprehensive data dictionary*
* Define and standardize *business and technical data definitions* across systems
* Identify data quality issues and drive resolution through root-cause analysis
* Ensure data integrity, consistency, and accuracy across relational data models
* Support governance best practices related to data ownership, usage, and definitions
*Technical & Systems Analysis*
* Perform advanced *SQL Server analysis* across multiple source systems
* Build and validate tables, views, joins, and relationships to support data integrity
* Analyze backend data flows and integrations at a conceptual level
* Partner with database developers to align governance requirements with implementation
* Support documentation of current-state and future-state data structures
*Stakeholder Collaboration*
* Work directly with business users to understand data meaning, usage, and requirements
* Translate business concepts into standardized technical definitions
* Collaborate with IT leadership, database teams, and project stakeholders
* Operate independently in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
*Required Qualifications*
* 8+ years of experience in data governance, data stewardship, or data-focused systems analysis
* Advanced SQL Server expertise (tables, views, joins, relational modeling)
* Demonstrated experience creating and maintaining *data dictionaries*
* Strong understanding of relational data models and data integrity concepts
* Experience working directly with business and technical stakeholders
* Ability to operate with minimal oversight on complex initiatives
*Highly Preferred*
* Consulting or project-based background
* Experience supporting data quality or pre-integration initiatives
* Exposure to backend systems, APIs, or integration patterns
* Familiarity with Medallion Architecture concepts (Bronze/Silver/Gold)
*Nice to Have*
* Exposure to Azure or modern data platforms
* Data warehousing or data lake concepts
* Oracle database experience

Job Type: Contract
Pay: $60.00 - $85.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
