Job Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Kitchen Supervisor to oversee daily kitchen operations in a fast-paced hospitality environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive culinary knowledge, and experience managing food service teams. This role involves supervising food preparation, ensuring food safety standards, managing inventory, and maintaining high-quality service in both casual and fine dining settings. The Kitchen Supervisor will play a vital role in coordinating kitchen activities, supporting staff, and ensuring customer satisfaction through excellent food quality and service.
Duties
- Supervise and coordinate all kitchen staff, including cooks, food prep workers, and catering personnel to ensure efficient operations.
- Oversee food production processes, including menu planning, food handling, and presentation standards.
- Manage inventory control by monitoring stock levels, ordering supplies, and minimizing waste.
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain cleanliness standards across the kitchen area.
- Assist with food preparation and cooking as needed, maintaining high culinary standards.
- Oversee shift management, including scheduling staff shifts and delegating tasks to ensure smooth workflow.
- Coordinate catering events and special functions, ensuring timely delivery of quality dishes.
- Implement training programs for staff development in areas such as food safety, culinary techniques, and customer service.
- Monitor kitchen operations for efficiency improvements and cost control measures.
- Collaborate with restaurant management to develop menus that align with brand standards and customer preferences.
- YCC Cook is responsible for preparing ingredients for next day and day off service. Our cooks must have the ability to read and follow recipes consistently, follow health and safety protocols adhere to instruction of the chef and or foodservice director. Cooks must maintain a clean and organized work environment. Cooks are responsible for delivering food that is not only delicious but cooked to the YCC specifications.
- · Ensure ingredients and final products are fresh
- · Follow recipes, including measuring, weighing and mixing ingredients
- · Bake, grill, steam and boil meats, vegetables, fish, poultry and other foods
- · Present, garnish and arrange final dishes
- · Occasionally serve food
- · Maintain a clean and safe work area, including handling utensils, equipment and dishes
- · Handle and store ingredients and food
- · Maintain food safety and sanitation standards
- · Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment and utensils
- · Execute opening and closing procedures
- · Set up workstations with required ingredients and equipment
- · Check the quality and freshness of ingredients
- · Follow weekly and monthly cleaning list
- · Assist when needed with washing of dishes
- · Monitor station inventory levels
- · Operate kitchen equipment such as broilers, ovens, grills and fryers
- · Assist with monthly inventory
- · Complete daily opening and closing checklist
- · Record cooler and food temps
- · Record production and leftovers
- · Assist with all catering events whether the event is scheduled for the afternoon, evening or weekends. (we rarely do weekend catering but need the person to be available)
Qualifications
- Proven experience in banquet, fine dining, or restaurant management roles with a strong background in food production and kitchen management.
- Demonstrated supervising experience with team management skills; ability to lead a diverse team effectively.
- Extensive knowledge of food safety, inventory management, menu planning, food handling, and catering operations.
- Strong culinary skills with experience in food preparation, cooking, and food service management.
- Familiarity with the food industry, including hospitality, and serving, is preferred.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities during shift changes or busy periods.
- Leadership qualities that foster teamwork, motivate staff, and uphold high standards of quality and safety.
- Prior experience working in both casual and fine dining environments is advantageous. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a motivated professional to lead a vibrant kitchen team while delivering exceptional dining experiences.
Pay: $18.00 per hour
Expected hours: 45 – 50 per week
