Overview
Join our dynamic healthcare team as a Float Phlebotomist, where your expertise in specimen collection and patient care will make a vital difference across multiple clinical settings. This role offers the opportunity to utilize your laboratory procedures knowledge and technical skills to ensure accurate blood sampling and specimen processing. As a Float Phlebotomist, you will provide exceptional patient service while supporting various hospital departments, demonstrating flexibility and professionalism in a fast-paced environment. Your dedication to precise venipuncture techniques and patient comfort will help us deliver reliable laboratory results and enhance patient outcomes. Various hours Monday–Sunday; must be flexible with scheduling. Hours range from 7:30 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Must be willing to travel.

Duties

  • Perform blood draws using venipuncture and skin puncture techniques with precision and care, ensuring patient comfort and safety
  • Collect, label, and process specimens accurately according to laboratory protocols, maintaining specimen integrity from collection to processing
  • Obtain vital signs and assess patient physiology to support clinical assessments and laboratory testing needs
  • Follow aseptic techniques and maintain strict infection control standards during all specimen collection procedures
  • Support hospital departments by providing timely phlebotomy services across different units, including inpatient, outpatient, and emergency settings
  • Document all procedures meticulously in accordance with medical terminology standards and hospital policies
  • Assist with laboratory procedures such as specimen handling, processing, and transportation to ensure efficient workflow

Skills

  • Extensive knowledge of laboratory techniques, procedures, and anatomy relevant to blood sampling and specimen collection
  • Proven experience in clinical laboratory settings with a focus on phlebotomy and venipuncture methods
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, physiology, and hospital protocols to ensure accurate communication and documentation
  • Excellent patient service skills with the ability to comfort diverse patient populations during blood collection
  • Familiarity with hospital environments, including emergency protocols and infection control practices
  • Ability to adapt quickly to different clinical settings while maintaining high standards of quality and safety
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with healthcare professionals and explaining procedures clearly
