Therapist, School-Based

*$2,000 Spanish fluency add-on bonus available*

Summary: School-based therapist position; working with children grades 6-8; full-time job; M-F 8am-4pm; weekly supervision provided; caseload of 25-30 clients; opportunities for trainings through the Office of School Health and internally at ABC.

About ABC

The Association to Benefit Children (ABC) is dedicated to ensuring that every child has a joyful, healthy, and safe life through compassionate and innovative programs since 1986.

ABC is looking for therapists at two schools in East Harlem and Midtown West.

The ideal candidate will provide weekly therapy for students in the school and collateral work with families. The candidate will work independently in the school to build the caseload and create relationships with school supports. Schedule is 8-4 pm Monday-Friday. ABC will offer classes to help social workers and mental health counselors prepare for the NYS licensing exams.

Responsibilities of the school-based therapist:

• Accepting referrals and conducting intakes
• Providing individual therapy, with the potential for family/dyadic sessions as needed
• Attending school meetings and collaborating with the other school support staff
• Facilitating collateral contact with school staff and families of students on the caseload
• Maintaining timely documentation in an electronic medical database, including session notes and treatment plans
• Providing crisis intervention as needed

Qualifications of the school-based therapist:

• Valid license in New York as an LMHC, LMSW, LCSW, LCAT (also able to accept MSW with permit)
• Experience providing mental health services to children in a clinical setting
• Bilingual English/Spanish desired but not required
• Comfort using technology and documenting in an electronic health system
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Excellent organizational, time-management, written and communication skills

Salary is commensurate with licensure as follows (NOT including $2,000 Spanish bonus):

• MSW with limited permit: $48,500/year
• LMSW: $57,750/year
• LCSW: $61,500/year
