Position Summary:
The Medication Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality ADL services and safe medication administration to residents in alignment with their individualized service plans. Responsibilities include medication management, personal care support, accurate documentation, and communication with healthcare professionals and families. All tasks are performed under the direction of the Director of Health and Wellness while maintaining compliance with all state, local, and federal regulations.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Follow each resident's service plan in a friendly, supportive, and professional manner.
- Administer medications in accordance with physician orders and the Medication Administration Record (MAR).
- Document daily care, medication administration, tasks completed, and observed changes in resident condition.
- Communicate effectively with fellow Medication Technicians and care staff to ensure consistent quality care.
- Assist with meal service, including serving, clearing, and dining room cleanliness.
- Support and supervise care staff during working hours as needed.
- Maintain required certifications and participate in ongoing trainings, in-service programs, and coursework.
- Comply with Continuous Quality Improvement procedures and report any issues to supervisors.
- Follow all HIPAA, OSHA, Bloodborne Pathogen, and regulatory guidelines.
- Promote a safe workplace by modeling safe behaviors, correcting unsafe actions, and participating in safety programs.
- Assist leadership with incident follow-up, return-to-work processes, and communication with care providers when necessary.
Required Skills & Experience:
- Current Medication Technician/Medication Aide certification (state-approved).
- Previous experience in assisted living, senior care, or a related field preferred.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-focused environment.
