Position Overview
A respected
general contractor in the Sacramento region
is seeking an experienced
DSA Superintendent
to lead
Division of the State Architect (DSA)
public works projects. This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day field operations while ensuring strict compliance with DSA requirements, safety standards, and project schedules.
Key Responsibilities
Field Leadership & Operations
- Manage all onsite construction activities for DSA-regulated projects from start to finish.
- Supervise subcontractors, coordinate trade sequencing, and enforce project schedules.
- Lead daily tailgate meetings and ensure compliance with site safety requirements.
DSA & Public Works Compliance
- Ensure full compliance with DSA inspection requirements, testing, and documentation.
- Coordinate with DSA inspectors, IORs, testing agencies, and special inspectors.
- Maintain accurate records including verified reports, inspection logs, and corrective actions.
- Ensure adherence to prevailing wage and public works requirements.
Schedule, Quality & Reporting
- Track schedule progress and proactively identify potential delays or conflicts.
- Ensure work is installed per approved plans, specifications, and DSA-approved changes.
- Participate in weekly project meetings and provide field updates to project management.
Coordination & Closeout
- Coordinate inspections, punch lists, and final acceptance with DSA and local authorities.
- Support closeout documentation including as-builts, O&M manuals, and final verified reports.
- Assist with project turnover and occupancy approvals.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a
Superintendent on DSA projects
(K–12, higher education, public facilities). - Strong understanding of DSA processes, inspections, and documentation requirements.
- Experience working with public owners, inspectors, and union trades.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work onsite in Sacramento or surrounding areas.
