The Learning Engagement, Outreach, and Impact (LEOI) team at The Henry Ford fosters innovative and inclusive educational experiences through the development of curriculum and professional development, experiential learning, and hands-on programs such as Invention Convention Worldwide. The LEOI team supports, updates, and maintains inHub, The Henry Ford's educator platform and community to provide educators and organizations with high-quality, relevant materials related to helping every person develop an innovative mindset.
The
Coordinator, Experiential Learning Programs
works in collaboration with the Experiential Learning Programs team to support the planning and delivery of PreK–12 educational programming. This role assists with the coordination and activation of innovative experiences such as THF Summer Camp, Tinkering for Tots, and Detroit Public Schools Community District (DPSCD) Cultural Passport Initiative Field Trips. The coordinator provides logistical, materials, and program support to ensure smooth operations and positive participant experiences, while contributing to broader Learning Engagement, Outreach & Impact initiatives.
This is a part-time position, averaging no more than 28 hours per week, with the expectation of on-site presence for many responsibilities. The position reports to the Manager, Experiential Learning Programs.
Essential Responsibilities
Program Logistics & Coordination (40%)
- Coordinate logistics for Experiential Learning Programs (e.g., THF Summer Camp, Tinkering for Tots, DPSCD Cultural Passport Initiative Field Trips).
- Reserve rooms, request volunteers, secure tickets, and provide status updates to stakeholders.
- Assist with building camp schedules and rosters, and track participant attendance.
- Serve as a point of contact for camp families as directed.
Materials & Resource Support (35%)
- Assist with researching and ordering supplies for Experiential Learning Programs.
- Track deliveries and organize storage spaces to maintain inventory readiness.
- Prepare and distribute program materials as needed for camp and other initiatives.
- Support emergency supply needs during program implementation.
Team & Program Support (25%)
- Collaborate with internal teams (museum programming, village programming, guest services, contact center, purchasing, food service) to ensure smooth program execution.
- Assist with counselor interviews and help facilitate training sessions.
- Provide on-site support during programs and camps, including supervisory assistance as needed.
- Apply policies and emergency procedures to maintain participant safety.
- Follow organizational guidelines for communication, applications, awards, contracts, and reporting
Your Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree or some college coursework preferred.
- 1+ years of experience in program or event coordination, logistics, or related field preferred.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook); experience with scheduling or inventory systems preferred.
