Job Overview

Blank Rome is seeking an independent, personable, and detail-oriented Paralegal to support attorneys on a variety of complex litigation matters. Under the direction of attorneys, Paralegals at Blank Rome provide vital service to our teams in support of our clients. The ability to manage competing priorities under tight deadlines is a requirement in the role, as is some trial experience.

This role is a hybrid working arrangement. Potential candidates must live within commuting distance of our Houston office to be onsite 3 days per week. In this role, you will report to the Director of Paralegal Services.

Essential Functions

  • Assist with document retrieval, review, organization, and production.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents for attorney review.
  • Cite check, edit legal documents, and manage all documents and materials relevant to legal proceedings in various courts.
  • Conduct legal and factual research including electronic research.
  • Prepare written memorandum and summaries relating to research results.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents for review and use by the attorney team.
  • Prepare and file court documents, including e-filings.
  • Review documents for appropriate classification (e.g. Attorney Client Privileged protected documents).
  • Prepare for and attend trials in various state and federal courts.
  • Maintain confidentiality of client information.
  • Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
  • Work additional hours as needed to fulfill job requirements.

Skills/Qualifications

  • 3+ years of litigation paralegal experience.
  • Bachelor's degree, paralegal certification, or equivalent work experience required.
  • Experience in a legal environment or professional services required.
  • Experience with Commercial Litigation or Mass Torts preferred.
  • Experience with electronic discovery in particular, EverLaw and Relativity.
  • Experience with document review and document production experience preferred.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to develop positive working relationships (in-person and virtually).
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize complex or diverse information.
  • Ability to collect and research data.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective organizational skills.
  • Proven problem solving, critical thinking, and decision-making skills.
  • Unquestioned integrity and professionalism.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Proficient in web-based conference call/web-sharing applications.
