Position Overview:

Director, Program Management – Ships is responsible for the capture, preparation for and execution of surface shipbuilding programs. Operates in a leadership role with a broader multi-disciplined team to develop proposals and win contracts. Oversees all aspects of program management, from contract award through design, production, testing, and delivery ensuring that cost, schedule, technical performance, and quality objectives are achieved. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Assesses and documents milestones, budgets and matrix support necessary to pursue approved programs.  Coordinates these products and their updates with internal counterparts.   
  • Iaw the approved capture strategy, leads multi-disciplined teams in the capture of surface ship programs.  Holds reviews with SMEs and leadership leading up to submittal. 
  • Works closely with the BD and GR team's during the solicitation process to understand Customer's requirements/needs.  Post award builds and sustains strong relationship with Customer, regularly communicating status and addressing program risk / issues / opportunities
  • Builds the program team necessary to execute awarded contracts at a rate that supports program execution.  Attracts, advances and retains talent.
  • Coordinates with Hanwha affiliates (HPSI, Ocean) to ensure preparation and execution is in accordance with contract requirements. Engagements will be accomplished in accordance with HDUSA policy.  
  • Implements controls and reporting necessary to monitor and proactively address cost, schedule and quality performance of affiliates / subcontractors / suppliers.   
  • Provides routine status reports for leadership and responds timely to follow up tasking. 
  • Controls expenditures within limitations of program budgets.
  • Responsible for customer presentations and interface.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications/ Experience

  • 15+ years of related experience 
  • Three (3) years in management required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 
  • Understanding of U.S. defense landscape

Education 

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Engineering, or other industry-related field required
  • Master's degree preferred.

Special Knowledge / Skills: 

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
  • Professional experience in leadership roles. 
  • PMP desired.

Physical Demands / Work Environment:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear and use hands to finger, handle, and feel.   The employee is required to reach with hands and arms and have adequate mobility to stand, walk, sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty (50) pounds.   Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus. Ability to travel.
